She Married a Sterile Mafia Boss for One Year—Then the Doctor Said She Was Pregnant
Chapter 6
Three months later, Isabella began feeling sick every morning.
At first, she blamed stress.
Then food started making her nauseous.
She became exhausted.
Mrs. Grant noticed.
“You should see a doctor.”
“I will.”
But she delayed.
Because there was something terrifying about admitting what her body seemed to be telling her.
Finally, one morning, she fainted in the kitchen.
Adrian caught her before she hit the floor.
“Isabella!”
She opened her eyes.
His face was inches from hers.
“I’m fine.”
“No.”
“I just stood up too quickly.”
“You fainted.”
“I’m okay.”
He carried her to the sofa.
“Doctor.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“Adrian—”
“I’m not negotiating.”
The doctor arrived.
Blood tests were ordered.
The next morning, Isabella went to the clinic.
And now she sat staring at the ultrasound.
Pregnant.
Nine weeks.
The impossible had happened.
She drove back to Blackwood Manor with the ultrasound photograph in her handbag.
The gates opened.
Security waved her through.
She entered the house.
Adrian was waiting in the study.
“You were gone longer than expected.”
“I had an appointment.”
“With the doctor?”
She nodded.
He stood.
“What did he say?”
Isabella couldn’t answer.
Adrian walked closer.
“Isabella?”
She looked at him.
“I’m pregnant.”
The room went completely still.
Adrian’s face became unreadable.
Then he laughed once.
Not because it was funny.
Because he didn’t understand.
“No.”
“Yes.”
“You’re sure?”
“The doctor confirmed it.”
He stepped backward.
“That’s impossible.”
“I know.”
He looked at her stomach.
Then at the ultrasound photograph.
“I’m sterile.”
“I know.”
He stared at her.
For several seconds, neither spoke.
Then Adrian asked the question that would change everything.
“Whose child is it?”
Isabella’s face went white.
