She Married a Sterile Mafia Boss for One Year—Then the Doctor Said She Was Pregnant
Chapter 10
Richard was arrested.
But the damage wasn’t finished.
The medical records revealed a much larger conspiracy involving several executives, private physicians, and members of the Blackwood family.
Adrian spent weeks dismantling the network.
Isabella’s pregnancy progressed.
For the first time, the mansion changed.
A nursery was prepared.
Adrian argued with the decorator about the color.
“Why does everything have to be gray?”
“It matches the house.”
“The baby doesn’t live in the house.”
The decorator smiled.
“What color would you like?”
Adrian looked at Isabella.
She laughed.
“Blue.”
Adrian nodded.
“Blue.”
That evening, Isabella found him assembling a crib.
He had put one piece in backward.
“You’re doing it wrong.”
He looked offended.
“I can run a company.”
“You can’t assemble a crib.”
“I can.”
She picked up the instructions.
“You have six screws left.”
He looked at the floor.
“That’s intentional.”
She laughed.
Adrian smiled.
He had never imagined himself like this.
He had spent years surrounded by men who feared him.
Now he was terrified of dropping a tiny wooden screw.
One night, Isabella woke him.
“Adrian.”
He sat up immediately.
“What happened?”
She took his hand and placed it against her stomach.
“Wait.”
He froze.
A tiny movement touched his palm.
His eyes widened.
“Was that—?”
She nodded.
“Our baby.”
Adrian didn’t speak.
He kept his hand there.
Then, very quietly, he whispered:
“I’m here.”
Isabella smiled.
The feared mafia boss who had terrified half the city sat awake until sunrise with his hand resting on his unborn child.
