A car followed Isabella from the clinic.

“Who hired you?”

The man said nothing.

“No guns.”

They stared at him.

“No guns?”

“I want him alive.”

Isabella grabbed his arm before he left.

“Don’t go alone.”

Richard laughed.

“You had nothing to inherit while you were alive.”

“You changed my medical records.”

“Yes.”

“You tried to kill me.”

“Yes.”

“And now you want my child.”

Richard smiled.

“I want what should have been mine.”

Adrian’s face hardened.

“You were never my family.”

Richard laughed.

“Family?”

He pointed toward the door.

“You think Isabella loves you?”

Adrian didn’t answer.

Richard smiled.

“She married you for money.”

Adrian stepped closer.

“She stayed when she could have left.”

Richard’s smile faded.

“She’ll leave when she learns what you really are.”

Adrian looked at him.

“You don’t understand.”

Richard frowned.

“I finally have something worth protecting.”
