He Brought His New Lover to Humiliate His Ex-Wife — Then Her Billionaire Father Walked In
Chapter 3
Victoria couldn’t stop looking at Daniel.
“You told me you built the company yourself.”
Daniel frowned.
“I did.”
Emma placed the document on the table.
“Then why is my signature on a loan agreement dated after our divorce?”
Daniel looked at it.
“I don’t know.”
Richard watched him carefully.
“That’s interesting.”
“What?”
“You signed several documents related to this loan.”
Daniel’s face tightened.
“I was authorized.”
“By whom?”
“By Emma.”
Emma shook her head.
“Not after the divorce.”
Daniel looked at her.
“You must have forgotten.”
Emma’s expression hardened.
“I don’t forget my signature.”
Richard leaned forward.
“My daughter kept detailed financial records.”
Daniel tried to laugh.
“This is ridiculous.”
“Is it?”
Richard pulled out another document.
Then another.
Then another.
Each one contained Emma’s name.
Each was dated after the divorce.
And each transferred financial responsibility toward Daniel’s company.
Victoria stared at the documents.
“Daniel…”
He turned toward her.
“Don’t.”
She lowered her voice.
“You said everything was settled when you divorced.”
“It was.”
“Then why are there new documents?”
Daniel couldn’t answer.
Emma sat quietly.
Something inside her was beginning to connect.
During her marriage, she had trusted Daniel completely.
She had given him access to financial files.
She had helped him negotiate loans.
She had even convinced her father to support his first major expansion.
But after the divorce, she had changed every password.
Every account.
Every authorization.
At least, she thought she had.
Richard closed the briefcase.
“We can continue this privately.”
Daniel immediately stood.
“No.”
Everyone looked at him.
He realized he had spoken too quickly.
“I mean…”
He sat down.
Richard’s eyes narrowed.
“You’re afraid.”
Daniel stared at him.
“No.”
“You should be.”
Emma touched her father’s arm.
“Dad.”
Richard looked at her.
Emma shook her head.
“Not here.”
She stood.
Daniel looked up.
“Where are you going?”
“Home.”
“You’re just leaving?”
Emma smiled sadly.
“This dinner was never about me.”
Daniel said nothing.
She walked toward the door.
Then stopped.
Without turning around, she said:
“Whatever you did with my name, Daniel…”
She paused.
“…you’d better hope I never find out.”
The door closed behind her.
Daniel stared at it.
For the first time, he understood that the woman he had once dismissed as weak had become the person he feared most.
