He Brought His New Lover to Humiliate His Ex-Wife — Then Her Billionaire Father Walked In
Chapter 5
Emma spent the next three days refusing to think about Daniel.
She worked.
She exercised.
She visited her father.
She tried to sleep.
But every time she closed her eyes, she saw the documents.
Her signature.
The dates.
The loans.
The money.
One evening, Richard came to her apartment.
He brought the black briefcase.
Emma looked at it.
“You knew.”
“I suspected.”
“When?”
“Three months ago.”
She stared at him.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because you were finally moving forward.”
“I deserve the truth.”
“Yes.”
Richard opened the case.
Inside was a thick financial report.
Emma read silently.
The deeper she went, the more disturbing it became.
Daniel’s company had been losing money for nearly two years.
He had hidden the losses through a series of short-term loans.
Some had been backed by assets connected to Emma.
Others had been secured using documents containing her signature.
Emma looked up.
“He was going bankrupt.”
Richard nodded.
“He was close.”
“And he used my name to hide it.”
“Yes.”
Emma closed her eyes.
She remembered Daniel’s confidence after the divorce.
The new car.
The expensive apartment.
The restaurants.
The new girlfriend.
He had wanted everyone to believe he was thriving.
But behind the image, his company had been collapsing.
“Why invite me to that dinner?”
Richard looked at her.
“Because he wanted to prove something.”
“What?”
“That he didn’t need you.”
Emma gave a bitter smile.
“He needed me more than ever.”
Richard nodded.
Then he handed her another envelope.
“This came from Marcus.”
Emma opened it.
A flash drive.
“What is this?”
“Put it in your computer.”
Emma did.
A video appeared.
Daniel was sitting in his office.
Another man was beside him.
Emma didn’t recognize him.
The recording was dated four months before her divorce.
Daniel said:
“She’ll sign.”
The other man laughed.
“And if she doesn’t?”
Daniel looked directly into the camera.
“She will.”
Emma’s blood ran cold.
The recording ended.
She stared at her father.
“Who is that man?”
Richard’s expression changed.
“I don’t know.”
But Emma knew one thing.
The betrayal had started long before she thought it had.
