He Brought His New Lover to Humiliate His Ex-Wife — Then Her Billionaire Father Walked In

Chapter 14

Three weeks later, Emma received a package.

No address.

Inside was a photograph.

An older man stood in front of a small house somewhere in rural Pennsylvania.

Emma recognized him immediately.

Daniel’s father.

Alive.

On the back was an address.

Emma and Daniel drove there together.

They found the house empty.

But the door was unlocked.

Inside were boxes of documents.

Photographs.

Audio recordings.

Bank statements.

And a final letter.

Daniel opened it.

His father’s handwriting filled the page.

If you found this, then the truth survived me.

Daniel’s hands shook.

The letter explained everything.

His father had never wanted Daniel to marry Emma.

Nathan had.

Richard had known about the plan.

Emma’s mother had tried to stop it.

But Daniel had fallen in love with Emma despite everything.

Then Nathan threatened him.

He told Daniel that if he refused to cooperate, Emma would lose everything.

Daniel had obeyed.

Not because he hated her.

Because he was terrified.

It didn’t excuse what he had done.

But it explained it.

Emma looked at Daniel.

“You should have told me.”

“I know.”

“You could have trusted me.”

“I was afraid.”

Emma nodded.

“So was my mother.”

She looked toward the window.

Two families.

Generations of secrets.

And one woman who had spent years believing her marriage was the greatest mistake of her life.

Perhaps it had been.

But perhaps it had also been the doorway through which she finally discovered the truth.

Then Daniel’s phone rang.

Unknown number.

He answered.

A man’s voice said:

“You found the house.”

Daniel froze.

Emma looked at him.

“Who is it?”

The voice continued:

“Now find the grave that isn’t a grave.”

The call ended.
