Her Billionaire Father Offered Me ₦1 Billion to Leave Her… My Decision Changed My Life Forever!

Chapter 8

Richard moved faster than I expected.

He grabbed Olivia and pulled her behind the desk.

Another shot shattered the window.

Security alarms erupted throughout the house.

“Stay down!”

Men rushed into the room.

Richard shouted instructions.

I grabbed Olivia.

We ran through the hallway.

A guard opened a hidden door behind a bookshelf.

We entered a narrow passage.

“Where does this go?” I asked.

Richard didn’t answer.

The tunnel led to an underground garage.

Three vehicles waited.

Richard pushed us into the first.

“Drive.”

I took the wheel.

We sped away.

For twenty minutes, nobody spoke.

Finally, Olivia looked at her father.

“You knew my mother was murdered.”

“Yes.”

“You knew Daniel’s father was alive.”

“Yes.”

“You knew someone was still hunting them.”

“Yes.”

She looked at me.

“And you thought money would solve it?”

Richard stared at the road.

“No.”

His voice was quiet.

“I thought money was the only weapon I had left.”

I didn’t answer.

We reached a private property outside the city.

Richard led us into a house hidden behind tall walls.

Inside, he opened a safe.

He removed another photograph.

It showed my father.

Older.

Gray-haired.

But unmistakably him.

Behind the photograph was an address.

A village in the eastern region.

My hands shook.

“That’s him?”

“Yes.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because every person I’ve told has eventually been followed.”

Olivia stepped closer.

“Who is hunting him?”

Richard hesitated.

Then:

“The same people who killed your mother.”

I looked at him.

“Who?”

He gave me a name.

Victor Hale.

A businessman.

Politician.

Philanthropist.

The man whose photograph I had seen in the evidence folder.

The man who had just been praised on television for donating millions to hospitals.

I stared at the screen.

“He’s a monster.”

Richard shook his head.

“That’s why he’s dangerous.”

We prepared to leave.

Before we did, Richard handed me an envelope.

I recognized it.

The original offer.

The ₦1 billion.

I looked at him.

“I don’t want it.”

“You may need it.”

“For what?”

“To survive what comes next.”

I pushed it back.

“I won’t take money to walk away from Olivia.”

Richard looked at his daughter.

Then at me.

Something changed in his expression.

“I know.”

That was the first time he looked at me without contempt.

“You’re the first man who has ever refused my money.”

I smiled.

“Maybe that’s why you finally believe me.”

He nodded.

Then the phone rang.

Richard answered.

His face changed.

“What?”

He listened.

Then looked at me.

“They found your father.”
