She Was Forced to Marry an Infertile Mafia Boss — Months Later, Her Morning Sickness Shocked All
Chapter 6
The next morning, Elena woke to shouting downstairs.
She hurried toward the staircase.
Vincent stood in the foyer with Marco and Luca.
On the floor lay a shattered vase.
“What happened?”
Vincent turned immediately.
“Go upstairs.”
“No.”
“Elena.”
“You don’t get to lock me out of my own life.”
His expression softened.
But before he could answer, a gunshot echoed outside.
Everyone froze.
Luca immediately moved Elena behind him.
Another shot struck the front gate.
Security personnel rushed toward the windows.
Vincent pulled his weapon.
“Get her to the safe room.”
Elena grabbed his arm.
“Vincent!”
“Go.”
She hated leaving him.
But she knew this wasn’t a movie.
People could die.
She was escorted into a reinforced room beneath the mansion.
For two hours, nobody told her anything.
Finally, Vincent entered.
His shirt was torn.
There was blood on his sleeve.
Elena ran toward him.
“Are you hurt?”
“Not mine.”
She touched his face.
“What happened?”
“Someone attacked the house.”
“Who?”
“We don’t know yet.”
She looked at him.
“Is this because of the baby?”
Vincent didn’t answer.
That was enough.
He crouched in front of her.
“Elena, I need you to understand something.”
She nodded.
“From now on, you’re the most important person in this organization.”
She stared at him.
“I don’t want that.”
“Neither do I.”
He placed his hand gently over hers.
“But you’re carrying my child.”
His voice broke slightly.
“Our child.”
Elena felt tears rise.
Then Vincent said something she never expected.
“If you want to leave, I’ll get you out.”
“What?”
“Tonight.”
She stared at him.
“You’d let me go?”
“I’d protect you.”
“Even if I take your child?”
His jaw tightened.
“If that’s what you want.”
Elena shook her head.
“I don’t want to leave.”
Vincent looked at her.
“Why?”
“Because I married a man I was afraid of.”
She touched his chest.
“And somewhere along the way, I fell in love with him.”
Vincent closed his eyes.
For the first time, the feared mafia boss looked completely defenseless.
He pulled her into his arms.
“I love you too.”
Outside the safe room, however, Luca was listening.
And someone else was listening through a hidden microphone.
Someone who now knew the truth.
The DeLuca heir existed.
And that meant Vincent DeLuca had finally become vulnerable.
