Olivia Hart never thought the day she would leave the Sterling mansion would come with rain.
For three years, she had entered that house as Ethan Sterling’s wife.
That night, she walked out carrying one suitcase.
Her wedding ring was still on her finger.
Her heart was still breaking.
Ethan stood near the staircase, his expression colder than she had ever seen it.
On the coffee table sat a folder filled with documents.
“You betrayed me.”
Olivia stared at him.
“I didn’t.”
“The acquisition file was copied from my office.”
“I never touched it.”
“Security footage shows you entering the room.”
“I was looking for you.”
“You knew exactly where the file was.”
She shook her head.
“Ethan, listen to me.”
“I already did.”
He picked up another document.
“Your fingerprints were found on the cabinet.”
Olivia’s face went pale.
She knew the evidence looked bad.
But she also knew one thing.
Someone had framed her.
Before she could explain, Ethan’s mother, Victoria Sterling, appeared at the top of the stairs.
“Maybe you should let her go.”
Olivia looked at her.
There was something disturbingly calm about Victoria’s face.
Ethan didn’t look at his mother.
He looked only at Olivia.
“I want you out tonight.”
She couldn’t believe it.
“You’re kicking me out?”
“I can’t have someone I don’t trust living in this house.”
Olivia’s hand moved unconsciously to her stomach.
She had found out that morning.
She was pregnant.
She had planned to tell him after dinner.
Now, as the rain battered the windows, she realized Ethan would never hear the words.
She picked up her suitcase.
At the door, she stopped.
“I never betrayed you.”
Ethan said nothing.
Olivia walked into the rain.
And took the secret with her.
