She Was Forced to Marry an Infertile Mafia Boss — Months Later, Her Morning Sickness Shocked All

Chapter 12

They found Isabella’s wheelchair outside the facility.

No blood.

No body.

Only another message.

THE BABY IS THE KEY.

Vincent stared at the words.

Elena felt something move inside her.

She placed a hand over her stomach.

For the first time, the pregnancy didn’t feel like a miracle.

It felt like a target.

They returned to Chicago under maximum security.

Vincent gathered everyone he trusted.

Luca.

Joseph.

Sofia.

And Elena.

They analyzed every piece of evidence.

The medical fraud.

The attacks.

The nursery camera.

The disappearance of Isabella.

Everything led back to one financial network.

A shell company called Northstar Holdings.

Joseph traced its ownership.

The name at the end made everyone silent.

Daniel Moreau.

Adrian’s younger brother.

But Daniel had supposedly been dead for twelve years.

Vincent leaned back.

“They’ve been hiding him.”

Elena suddenly remembered something.

“Wait.”

She opened the old photograph.

There was a symbol in the corner.

A small silver star.

The same symbol appeared on the Northstar documents.

“That’s not a coincidence.”

Joseph enlarged the image.

“It could be a family mark.”

Vincent stood.

“Where is Daniel?”

Joseph searched.

Then stopped.

“He’s in Chicago.”

“Where?”

“Your father’s old warehouse.”

Vincent grabbed his coat.

Elena stopped him.

“No.”

He looked at her.

“You stay here.”

“I am coming.”

“No.”

“You said this family was mine.”

Vincent hesitated.

“It is.”

“Then I’m coming.”

They arrived at the warehouse shortly before dawn.

Inside, they found Carlo.

And Isabella.

Alive.

Both were surrounded by armed men.

Vincent raised his weapon.

“Let them go.”

Carlo smiled.

“You still think this is about money.”

Vincent stared.

“Then tell me what it’s about.”

“Legacy.”

Carlo pointed toward Elena.

“Your father wanted you to build a legitimate future.”

“And you?”

“I wanted control.”

Daniel Moreau stepped from the shadows.

He looked almost identical to Adrian.

But older.

Calmer.

More dangerous.

He smiled.

“Your child will unite two families.”

Elena understood.

They didn’t want the baby dead.

They wanted the baby alive.

Because whoever controlled the heir could eventually control both criminal empires.

Daniel continued.

“Your marriage was never supposed to become real.”

Vincent’s eyes hardened.

“You arranged it?”

“No.”

Carlo did.

“He thought an infertile Vincent would remain powerless.”

Daniel laughed.

“But then Elena became pregnant.”

The room went silent.

Daniel stepped closer.

“So now everyone wants your child.”

Vincent moved in front of Elena.

“No one gets near my family.”

A gunshot shattered the air.

The lights went out.

When they came back, Daniel was gone.

Carlo was unconscious.

And Isabella whispered,

“There’s one more person.”

Vincent looked at her.

“Who?”

She looked at Elena.

“The person who started all of this.”

Then Elena’s phone rang.

She answered.

A woman’s voice whispered:

“Your husband isn’t the father of the war.”

A pause.

“He’s the reason it started.”
