She Was Forced to Marry an Infertile Mafia Boss — Months Later, Her Morning Sickness Shocked All

Chapter 11

The countdown reached four minutes.

Luca attacked the control panel.

Nothing happened.

“It’s encrypted.”

Joseph grabbed a laptop.

“I’ll override it.”

Vincent looked at Elena.

“Stay beside me.”

She nodded.

The air grew warmer.

Elena felt dizzy.

Vincent immediately noticed.

“Sit down.”

“I can help.”

“You’re pregnant.”

“So are you married to me.”

He almost smiled.

Even now.

Even with death closing in.

She refused to break.

Then Elena noticed something.

A ventilation diagram on the wall.

“Wait.”

She stood.

“The emergency ventilation.”

Luca looked over.

“What’s wrong?”

“There are two systems.”

She pointed.

“The primary system is digital.”

“And the secondary?”

“Manual.”

They searched the bunker.

Behind a steel panel was a hand-operated lever.

Luca pulled it.

Fresh air rushed into the room.

Everyone breathed again.

But the doors remained locked.

Then Joseph shouted.

“I found the encryption key.”

The door opened.

They rushed into the mansion.

The entire security system had been compromised.

Carlo was gone.

So were several guards.

Vincent understood.

“He had people inside.”

They searched the property.

Nothing.

Then Elena saw something on the nursery floor.

A small envelope.

Her name was written on it.

Inside was an old photograph.

A young Vincent stood beside his father.

But there was another person in the photograph.

A woman.

Elena turned it over.

On the back was written:

Her son is still alive.

Vincent stared.

“My mother.”

Elena looked at him.

“I thought she died.”

“So did I.”

They investigated the photograph.

The woman was Vincent’s mother, Isabella.

Records claimed she died in a car accident seventeen years ago.

But Joseph discovered something astonishing.

The accident report had been falsified.

Isabella had survived.

She had disappeared.

And someone had been sending money to her under a false name for years.

They traced the payments.

A private nursing facility in Wisconsin.

Vincent went there immediately.

An elderly woman sat beside a window overlooking a garden.

When she saw him, she began crying.

“Vincent.”

He stopped breathing.

“Mom?”

Isabella reached for him.

He fell to his knees.

For several minutes, neither could speak.

Then she told him the truth.

His father had discovered Carlo’s betrayal.

He planned to expose him.

Carlo retaliated.

Isabella survived the assassination attempt but was forced into hiding.

She had watched Vincent from a distance for years.

“Why didn’t you come back?”

“I was protecting you.”

“From Carlo?”

“Yes.”

“And my father?”

Isabella shook her head.

“Your father was not the enemy.”

She looked at Elena.

“He loved you.”

Elena’s eyes filled with tears.

Then Isabella whispered the final truth.

“Carlo isn’t working alone.”

Vincent stiffened.

“Who else?”

Isabella looked frightened.

“Someone in your family.”

Before she could say more, the facility’s lights went out.

A gunshot echoed outside.

Vincent pulled Elena behind him.

Isabella grabbed his arm.

“Don’t trust anyone.”

Then the emergency lights came on.

And Isabella was gone.
