The hidden camera was discovered the next morning.
Luca found it during a routine security sweep.
Vincent nearly destroyed the room.
“Who installed it?”
Nobody knew.
That was the terrifying part.
The mansion had been sealed for weeks.
Only trusted people had access.
Vincent ordered every employee questioned.
Then something unexpected happened.
Sofia walked into his office.
“I know who installed it.”
Vincent looked up.
“Who?”
She placed an envelope on the desk.
“My brother.”
Silence.
“He works for Adrian.”
Vincent’s hand tightened around the envelope.
“Where is he?”
“I don’t know.”
“Why didn’t you tell me before?”
“Because he threatened my daughter.”
Elena stepped forward.
“What’s her name?”
Sofia looked at her.
“Emma.”
Elena immediately understood.
“Where is Emma?”
“School.”
Luca left within seconds.
They found the girl safe.
But Sofia’s brother was gone.
Inside the envelope was a photograph.
Adrian standing outside the DeLuca family cemetery.
On the back was a message.
MIDNIGHT. COME ALONE.
Vincent smiled coldly.
“Finally.”
Elena grabbed his arm.
“No.”
“I have to go.”
“It’s a trap.”
“I know.”
“Then don’t go.”
Vincent looked at her.
“If I don’t, he’ll come here.”
“He already came here.”
She pointed toward the camera.
“This is what he wants. He wants you angry.”
Vincent remained silent.
Then Elena said,
“You’ve spent your whole life fighting like a man who has nothing to lose.”
She placed his hand against her stomach.
“You do now.”
Vincent stared at her.
For the first time, he understood.
His greatest strength had become his greatest weakness.
But Elena had an idea.
Instead of meeting Adrian at midnight, they would make him believe Vincent was going alone.
Meanwhile, Luca would surround the cemetery.
Joseph would track Adrian’s communications.
And Elena would remain safely inside.
Or so they thought.
At 11:47 p.m., the security system suddenly failed.
Every light in the mansion went dark.
Emergency alarms screamed.
Elena was in the nursery.
She reached for the door.
Locked.
Her heart stopped.
“Vincent!”
No answer.
Then her phone lit up.
A video appeared.
Adrian stood in a dark room.
Behind him was Marco.
Alive.
Bound to a chair.
Adrian smiled.
“Vincent thinks he controls this city.”
He looked directly into the camera.
“But tonight, I’m going to teach him something.”
The screen changed.
A second camera showed the nursery.
Elena froze.
Adrian could see her.
“You should have stayed out of our family’s business.”
The door behind Elena clicked.
Unlocked.
She turned.
Nobody stood there.
Then she heard footsteps in the hallway.
Someone was inside the mansion.
And Vincent was nowhere near her.
