My Wife Died 4 Years Ago — Then I Saw Her Holding Another Man’s Hand on a Luxury Cruise

Chapter 1

The first time I saw my dead wife again, she was standing beneath a chandelier on the upper deck of a luxury cruise ship, holding another man’s arm.

I almost dropped my glass.

For four years, I had visited her grave every Sunday.

For four years, I had carried the guilt of surviving her.

And for four years, I had believed I knew exactly how she died.

Her name was Claire Bennett.

My wife.

My best friend.

The woman I had loved since college.

She supposedly died in a boating accident off the coast of Florida.

Her body was never recovered.

But there had been a death certificate.

A memorial service.

A photograph of the wreckage.

And a detective who told me the ocean had simply taken her.

I had eventually learned to live with that.

Or at least I had learned to pretend.

Then, four years later, I won a company-sponsored trip aboard the luxurious Ocean Majesty, sailing from Miami through the Caribbean.

I almost refused.

Cruise ships reminded me too much of the sea.

But my business partner convinced me.

“Five days,” he said. “You need a break.”

So I went.

That night, during a formal dinner, I stood near the railing overlooking the ballroom.

Then I saw her.

Long dark hair.

White evening dress.

The small silver bracelet I had given her on our fifth anniversary.

Claire.

Older.

Different.

Alive.

She laughed at something the man beside her said.

My heart stopped.

I pushed through the crowd.

“Claire?”

She turned.

Our eyes met.

For half a second, I saw recognition.

Then terror.

She grabbed the man’s arm.

He whispered something into her ear.

Claire looked at me again.

And then she walked away.

I followed.

“Claire!”

She disappeared through a private corridor.

I ran after her.

But when I reached the end, she was gone.

Only a crew member stood there.

“Sir, this area is restricted.”

I pointed toward the corridor.

“There was a woman here.”

The crew member frowned.

“Which woman?”

“My wife.”

He looked uncomfortable.

“Your wife?”

I swallowed.

“She died four years ago.”

He stared at me.

Then slowly said:

“Sir… you should probably speak with security.”

I should have listened.

Instead, I spent the entire night searching for her.

And at 2:13 a.m., someone slipped a note beneath my cabin door.

Three words were written on it.

She saw you.
