My Fiancé Went Back to His First Love—So I Married Her Billionaire Fiancé Instead
Chapter 11
The clinic was evacuated within minutes.
Alexander arranged security.
Thomas was moved to a secure facility.
Daniel escaped.
Emily was furious.
“I should have gone after him.”
“No.”
“He threatened my father.”
“And he wanted you emotional.”
Emily looked at Alexander.
“You keep saying that.”
“Because they expect you to react.”
She sat down.
“What do we do?”
Alexander placed the blue ledger on the table.
“We expose everything.”
Richard’s network relied on secrecy.
Once the information became public, their leverage would disappear.
But releasing the ledger could also hurt innocent people.
Some names belonged to people who had unknowingly participated.
Thomas knew that.
“We need to separate the guilty from the innocent,” he said.
Emily nodded.
“Then let’s do that.”
The next forty-eight hours became a race.
Lawyers.
Auditors.
Federal investigators.
Private security.
Every piece of evidence was reviewed.
The network began collapsing.
Accounts were frozen.
Companies were raided.
Several executives were arrested.
But Richard vanished.
Victoria vanished too.
Jacob, meanwhile, voluntarily went to investigators.
He admitted everything.
He explained how Victoria had manipulated him.
How she had used money.
How she had pressured him.
How she had tried to force Emily into signing documents.
It didn’t erase his betrayal.
But it helped the case.
Emily visited him once.
They met in a small interview room.
Jacob looked devastated.
“I loved you.”
Emily remained silent.
“I know I don’t deserve another chance.”
“You don’t.”
He nodded.
“I know.”
“I hope one day you become someone you can respect.”
Jacob looked at her.
“Are you happy?”
Emily glanced at her wedding ring.
“Yes.”
“Do you love him?”
She answered without hesitation.
“Yes.”
Jacob closed his eyes.
“I thought I was losing the woman I loved.”
Emily stood.
“You lost me when you decided I wasn’t enough.”
She walked away.
Outside, Alexander was waiting.
“How did it go?”
“Final.”
He nodded.
They returned to the Blackwell Tower.
The merger documents were still on the table.
But now, Emily realized something.
She didn’t need them.
Richard had wanted her signature because he believed she needed permission to control her inheritance.
She didn’t.
Her father had transferred control to her long ago.
She just hadn’t known.
Alexander helped her review the legal structure.
She became the majority voting shareholder.
The merger was dead.
Victoria had nothing.
Richard had nothing.
Project Horizon was exposed.
But there was still one problem.
Richard.
Late that night, Emily received a message.
An address.
Then another sentence:
COME ALONE.
She showed Alexander.
He shook his head.
“No.”
“He has my father.”
“No proof.”
“He could.”
“I won’t let you go.”
Emily looked at him.
“You said you wouldn’t control me.”
“I won’t.”
“Then trust me.”
He stared at her.
Finally, he nodded.
“But you won’t go alone.”
They developed a plan.
Emily would appear alone.
Security would follow.
The meeting point was an abandoned estate outside the city.
Emily entered the house.
Richard was waiting.
Victoria stood beside him.
And behind them was Thomas.
Alive.
Terrified.
Emily stopped.
“You wanted me.”
Richard smiled.
“Yes.”
“What now?”
“Sign.”
He placed the merger documents on the table.
Emily looked at them.
“No.”
Richard’s smile disappeared.
“Then your father dies.”
Emily looked at Thomas.
Her father shook his head.
“Don’t.”
Richard raised a gun.
Emily took a breath.
“Fine.”
Victoria smiled.
Emily picked up the pen.
Then she said:
“Before I sign…”
Richard leaned closer.
“What?”
Emily smiled.
“I want you to hear something.”
She pressed a button on her phone.
A recording began.
Richard’s own voice.
Every confession.
Every threat.
Every transaction.
Everything.
His face went white.
