My Fiancé Went Back to His First Love—So I Married Her Billionaire Fiancé Instead

Chapter 15

Five years after her first wedding was canceled, Emily returned to the same hotel where she had once planned to marry Jacob.

She stood in the ballroom.

The lights were soft.

The room was decorated with white flowers.

Alexander stood at the front.

Emily walked toward him.

This time, there was no contract.

No strategy.

No revenge.

Just love.

Her father gave her away.

When she reached Alexander, he took her hands.

“I have been waiting for this,” he whispered.

Emily smiled.

“So have I.”

The ceremony was small.

Family.

Friends.

Employees.

No reporters.

No business partners.

Just people they trusted.

The vows were simple.

Alexander went first.

“I promised you honesty.”

Emily smiled.

“You kept it.”

“I promised freedom.”

“You did.”

“I promised to choose you.”

Her eyes filled with tears.

“Every day?”

“Every day.”

Then Emily spoke.

“I thought love meant never being left.”

She paused.

“Now I know love means being chosen freely.”

Alexander squeezed her hands.

“I choose you.”

She smiled.

“I choose you too.”

They kissed.

The room erupted in applause.

Later that evening, they stood outside beneath the stars.

Emily looked back at the hotel.

“This place used to make me miserable.”

Alexander laughed.

“And now?”

“Now it makes me grateful.”

“Why?”

“Because it reminds me how far I’ve come.”

She leaned against him.

“Do you ever think about how ridiculous our first meeting was?”

“Very.”

“I thought you were arrogant.”

“I thought you were trouble.”

“I was.”

“You were.”

She laughed.

Then she became quiet.

“I almost said no.”

“To the marriage?”

“Yes.”

“Why didn’t you?”

Emily smiled.

“Because I was tired of letting other people decide what happened to me.”

Alexander kissed her forehead.

“And you decided?”

“I decided.”

They stood together.

Behind them, music played.

People laughed.

A new generation of employees celebrated in the ballroom.

Emily had once believed being left by Jacob was the worst thing that could happen.

It wasn’t.

The worst thing would have been staying with someone who didn’t choose her.

Jacob had gone back to his first love.

Victoria had believed money and manipulation could control everyone.

Richard had believed power was the same as ownership.

They had all been wrong.

Emily learned that love isn’t proven by who stays when life is easy.

It’s proven by who chooses honesty when leaving would be easier.

Alexander learned that protection doesn’t mean making decisions for someone.

It means standing beside them while they make their own.

And together, they built a marriage that had started as an arrangement but became real.

Not because they needed each other.

Because they wanted each other.

Emily looked at her husband.

“Ready?”

“For what?”

“For the rest of our lives.”

He smiled.

“Absolutely.”

They walked back inside together.

The woman who had once been abandoned at the edge of someone else’s love story was finally living her own.

And the man she married was never supposed to be her revenge.

He became her home.
