Single Dad Agreed to Pretend to Be Her Date for One Weekend—Then Discovered She Was a Millionaire

Chapter 3

The estate was larger than Ethan expected.

He parked his old SUV behind a row of luxury vehicles.

Lily’s school project was still sitting on the passenger seat.

He grabbed it and moved it into the back.

Then Olivia appeared.

She was wearing a simple blue dress.

Nothing extravagant.

But the way she carried herself made Ethan pause.

“You came.”

“You doubted me?”

“A little.”

She smiled.

“I’m glad.”

Ethan stepped out.

Olivia looked at his SUV.

“You drove this?”

“Every day.”

“I like it.”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

She smiled.

“It’s honest.”

Before Ethan could ask what that meant, the front doors opened.

An older woman appeared.

“Olivia.”

“Grandmother.”

The woman looked at Ethan.

Then at Olivia.

Then back at Ethan.

Her expression softened.

“This is him?”

Olivia nodded.

“This is Ethan.”

Ethan extended his hand.

“It’s nice to meet you.”

The woman ignored his hand.

Instead, she hugged him.

Ethan froze.

“Welcome.”

“Thank you.”

Behind her, several family members appeared.

A man in an expensive suit stared at Ethan’s shoes.

A woman whispered something to another guest.

Olivia squeezed Ethan’s arm.

“Don’t worry.”

“I wasn’t.”

“You are.”

He smiled.

Then her grandmother leaned closer.

“Come.”

She took Ethan’s hand.

“I want to hear how you met my granddaughter.”

Ethan looked at Olivia.

She looked at him.

They had never discussed that part.

Olivia smiled.

“We met unexpectedly.”

Ethan nodded.

“At a coffee shop.”

Her grandmother smiled.

“And?”

“She spilled coffee on me.”

Olivia’s eyes widened.

“I did not.”

“You absolutely did.”

“I spilled a little.”

Ethan laughed.

The family watched.

For a moment, it felt natural.

Then a man stepped forward.

“I’m Olivia’s father.”

Ethan shook his hand.

Richard Bennett’s grip was firm.

Too firm.

“I’d like a word with you.”

Olivia’s smile disappeared.

“Dad.”

“Privately.”

Ethan looked at him.

“Sure.”

Richard led him away.

And his first words were:

“Whatever she’s paying you, I’ll double it if you disappear.”
