Six months later, Ethan took Olivia to meet his daughter at the same little café where everything had started.
Lily was waiting.
She looked at Olivia.
“So you’re real now?”
Olivia laughed.
“Yes.”
Lily nodded.
“Good.”
Ethan sat down.
“What does that mean?”
“I didn’t like the fake version.”
“There was a fake version?”
“Yes.”
Lily looked at Olivia.
“Do you still have billions?”
Olivia laughed.
“Yes.”
“Can you buy Daddy a better car?”
Ethan groaned.
“Lily.”
“What?”
Olivia smiled.
“I could.”
Ethan shook his head.
“Don’t encourage her.”
Lily grinned.
“Can you buy him better pancakes?”
“Definitely.”
Ethan looked betrayed.
“Everyone is against me.”
They laughed.
Later that evening, Olivia asked Lily:
“Would it bother you if I became part of your family?”
Lily looked at her father.
Then back at Olivia.
“No.”
Olivia’s eyes softened.
“Why not?”
“Because Daddy smiles more when you’re here.”
Ethan looked away.
Olivia hugged Lily.
“Thank you.”
Lily whispered:
“You can stay.”
Olivia smiled.
