Single Dad Agreed to Pretend to Be Her Date for One Weekend—Then Discovered She Was a Millionaire
Chapter 10
They met the next day at the same café where they had first spoken.
Olivia arrived alone.
No driver.
No assistant.
No security.
Just her.
Ethan smiled.
“You remembered.”
“Of course.”
She sat across from him.
“I’ve been thinking.”
“So have I.”
“I don’t want a fake relationship anymore.”
Ethan nodded.
“Neither do I.”
She smiled.
“But I’m not sure what happens next.”
“Neither am I.”
They laughed.
Then Ethan asked:
“Why did you choose me?”
She answered honestly.
“Because you didn’t know who I was.”
“And now?”
“Now I know who you are.”
He smiled.
“What does that mean?”
“You’re kind.”
“That’s all?”
“You’re stubborn.”
He laughed.
“You’re terrible at compliments.”
“You’re a good father.”
His smile disappeared.
“That matters to me.”
“I know.”
She reached across the table.
He took her hand.
Then her phone rang.
She glanced at it.
Her expression changed.
“What?”
“It’s my father.”
She answered.
“Hello?”
Richard’s voice came through.
“You need to come home.”
“Why?”
“There’s a problem.”
“What kind?”
“Someone leaked information about the foundation.”
Olivia stood.
“Who?”
“We don’t know.”
Ethan watched her.
“Could it be connected to my job?”
Richard was silent.
Then:
“Yes.”
Olivia looked at Ethan.
“We’re coming.”
Richard hesitated.
“Bring him.”
Ethan raised an eyebrow.
“Me?”
“Yes.”
The call ended.
Olivia sat back down.
“What happened?”
She looked frightened.
“My father thinks someone inside the family is trying to take control of the company.”
Ethan stared.
“And they may be using us to do it.”
