My Fiancé Skipped Our Wedding for His Assistant — Then I Married the Billionaire Who Had Loved Me
Chapter 6
Daniel came back.
He called one afternoon.
“I need to see you.”
Natalie almost refused.
But curiosity won.
They met at a quiet restaurant.
Daniel looked tired.
“I made a mistake.”
Natalie stared at him.
“Which one?”
He swallowed.
“Leaving you.”
“You left me at the altar.”
“I know.”
“You sent me a text.”
“I panicked.”
“No.”
Natalie shook her head.
“You made a choice.”
Daniel looked down.
“Victoria wasn’t who I thought she was.”
Natalie almost laughed.
“You chose her.”
“I thought I loved her.”
“And now?”
“I don’t.”
She stared at him.
“Do you want me back?”
He nodded.
Natalie felt nothing.
That frightened her.
Two months earlier, this request would have destroyed her.
Now it simply felt like a chapter she had already finished reading.
“I’m sorry.”
Daniel looked confused.
“That’s it?”
“Yes.”
“You loved me.”
“I did.”
“What happened?”
Natalie thought for a moment.
“You left.”
He didn’t know how to answer.
She stood.
“I hope you find what you’re looking for.”
As she walked away, she realized something important.
Her heart no longer belonged to Daniel.
It wasn’t broken anymore.
It was simply elsewhere.
