My Fiancé Skipped Our Wedding for His Assistant — Then I Married the Billionaire Who Had Loved Me
Chapter 5
Natalie started working again.
She had been planning to take over a small family-owned event company before the wedding.
Now she decided to do it alone.
Alexander became an unexpected mentor.
He introduced her to investors.
But when the time came to negotiate, he stepped out of the room.
“You won’t learn anything if I make every decision for you.”
Natalie looked at him.
“You really do that?”
“Do what?”
“Help without controlling.”
He smiled.
“I’m trying.”
Slowly, her life began rebuilding.
She rented a small office.
Hired two employees.
Started winning clients.
The tabloids eventually lost interest.
And Natalie stopped seeing herself as the woman whose wedding had been ruined.
She became the woman who had survived it.
One night, Alexander attended the opening of her company.
After everyone left, they stood alone in the empty office.
“You did this yourself.”
“I had help.”
“Whose?”
She smiled.
“Mostly mine.”
He laughed.
She looked at him.
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For not trying to make me yours.”
His expression softened.
“I wanted you to choose me.”
“And now?”
“I still do.”
She looked away.
Her heart was beginning to change.
