He Left Her for His First Love, Only to Regret It When a CEO Spoiled Her
Chapter 6
Daniel accepted the deal.
Not because he wanted to impress Emily.
Because he needed to rebuild his own life.
He sold his apartment.
Moved into a smaller place.
Rebuilt his company.
And for the first time, he stopped comparing himself to Alexander.
It wasn’t easy.
But it was necessary.
Meanwhile, Emily and Alexander became serious.
He met her mother.
She met his sister.
They traveled together.
They worked together.
And slowly, Emily realized something.
She wasn’t being spoiled because Alexander thought she was fragile.
He spoiled her because he noticed how hard she worked.
One morning, he sent a driver to pick her up.
She texted:
You know I can drive.
He replied:
I know. I like making your morning easier.
She smiled.
That was the difference.
Choice.
Care.
Respect.
Then Alexander surprised Emily again.
He took her to a small coastal town.
No photographers.
No assistants.
No business.
They walked along the beach.
Emily looked at him.
“What are we doing?”
“Nothing.”
“You flew me across the country to do nothing?”
“Yes.”
She laughed.
“You’re strange.”
“I needed you away from everyone.”
“Why?”
He stopped.
“I want to ask you something.”
Her heart raced.
He reached into his coat.
She stared.
“Is that a ring?”
“Yes.”
“You’re serious.”
“I am.”
He smiled.
“Emily, I don’t want to be the man who arrives after you’ve been hurt and tries to erase your past.”
She felt tears fill her eyes.
“I want to be the man you choose after you’ve healed.”
She stared.
“Why me?”
“Because you don’t need me.”
He took her hand.
“You make me want to become the kind of man you deserve.”
She cried.
“Alexander…”
“You don’t have to answer today.”
She looked at him.
“I already know.”
He smiled.
“Yes?”
“Yes.”
They embraced.
The engagement became public.
The headlines were everywhere.
And Daniel saw them.
This time, something inside him didn’t break.
It hurt.
But it wasn’t jealousy.
It was acceptance.
Emily had moved on.
And she deserved happiness.
Then Daniel received a call from his mother.
“Your father was wrong about something.”
Daniel frowned.
“What?”
“He thought success meant having the most.”
“And?”
“She says success is knowing who you can be proud of when nobody is watching.”
Daniel thought about Emily.
He finally understood.
He had spent years chasing the wrong woman.
Then spent months regretting losing the right one.
Now he had one job.
Become someone he could respect.
