“I know.”

He shook his head.
“I gave you opportunities.”
“You gave me confidence.”

“You gave me a career.”

She frowned.
“What did you give me?”
He held her hand.
“A place where you never had to earn your worth.”
She cried.
“That was everything.”
He kissed her.
The vows continued.
Then Emily added her own.
“You found me after someone else convinced me I wasn’t enough.”
She smiled.
“You never once asked me to become someone else.”
Alexander nodded.
“I loved the woman who walked into my office.”
“And I love the woman standing here.”
The ceremony ended.
Their children hugged them.
The guests applauded.
And somewhere across town, Daniel watched a photograph from the event.
He smiled.
He wasn’t part of the marriage.
