THE DAY GREYHAVEN FINALLY STOOD TALL
Chapter 7
Greyhaven won the next event.
Then another.
Then another.
Not by dominating.
By refusing to collapse.
A swimmer lost by less than a second.
A wrestler won in the final ten seconds.
A young girl from Greyhaven hit the final archery target and screamed when she realized she had won.
The crowd came alive.
Blackridge stopped laughing.
The scoreboard tightened.
By late afternoon, the difference had become small.

Very small.
Walter stared at it.
“I don’t believe this.”
June stood beside him.

“Don’t say anything.”
“Why?”
“You’ll ruin it.”
