THE DAY GREYHAVEN FINALLY STOOD TALL
Chapter 13
For a moment, nobody moved.
Then the entire field erupted.
People ran onto the grass.
Walter nearly fell trying to get there.
June was laughing.
The athletes hugged each other.
Someone picked up the Greyhaven flag.
The flag waved above the crowd.
Ethan stood still.
He watched.
He didn’t feel like the winner.
He felt something different.
Pride.
Not for himself.
For them.
For a town that had spent years believing it had to accept being second.
The Blackridge captain approached.
His expression had changed.
No arrogance.
No laughter.
Just respect.
He stopped in front of Ethan.
“Congratulations.”
Ethan nodded.
“Thank you.”
The captain looked toward Greyhaven.
“We underestimated you.”
Ethan smiled.
“Yeah.”
The captain shook his head.
“Won’t happen again.”
Ethan looked at him.
“Good.”
