The Billionaire’s Daughter Drove Every Maid Away — Until One Woman Refused to Be Afraid of Her
Chapter 1
Everyone in the mansion knew one rule.
Never challenge Isabella Sterling.
At twenty-four, she was the only child of billionaire businessman Richard Sterling, and everyone who worked in the house had learned that her temper could empty a room faster than any security alarm.
Maid number one lasted six days.
She quit after Isabella poured an expensive perfume across the marble floor and ordered her to clean it without gloves.
Maid number two lasted eleven days.
She left after Isabella locked her out of the kitchen because breakfast had been three minutes late.
Maid number three lasted less than a week.
She simply disappeared after Isabella stood at the top of the staircase and told her, “You should learn your place.”
By the beginning of winter, the mansion had gone through seven housekeepers.
Richard had enough.
He stood in the enormous dining room one morning with his daughter sitting across from him.
“This ends now.”
Isabella didn’t look up from her phone.
“What does?”
“The revolving door.”
She frowned.
“Nobody can keep up with me.”
“That’s not their job.”
She finally looked at him.
“My house. My rules.”
Richard sighed.
“This is not your house.”
She smiled.
“Everything in it belongs to you.”
He shook his head.
“That doesn’t mean you own the people inside it.”
She looked away.
The silence lasted several seconds.
Then Richard said:
“I hired someone new.”
Isabella laughed.
“How long will she last?”
“That’s for her to decide.”
“What makes her different?”
Richard picked up his coffee.
“She isn’t afraid of you.”
That finally caught Isabella’s attention.
“Nobody is afraid of me.”
Richard gave her a look.
“That’s exactly the problem.”
Later that afternoon, a woman stepped through the front doors carrying one suitcase.
She wore simple clothes.
No designer labels.
No nervous smile.
No exaggerated politeness.
Her name was Clara Bennett.
She had worked in private homes for years.
But she had never worked for anyone like Isabella.
The head butler greeted her.
“You’re the new housekeeper?”
Clara nodded.
“Yes.”
“Just a warning.”
He lowered his voice.
“The young mistress isn’t easy.”
Clara smiled.
“Neither am I.”
And somewhere upstairs, Isabella heard her.
For the first time in months, someone had entered the mansion without being afraid of her.
