She Took a Babysitting Job at a Billionaire’s Mansion — Then She Fell for the Son Who Thought She Didn’t Belong There
Chapter 5
Oliver became the reason Ethan and Emma started spending time together.
He began insisting that they both eat dinner with him.
He wanted them to play board games.
He wanted Ethan to read stories.
Emma discovered Ethan was surprisingly good with children.
“You never told anyone you’re good at this.”
“I don’t advertise.”
“Why not?”
“Because my friends would never let me live it down.”
Emma smiled.
“You care what your friends think.”
“Sometimes.”
“That’s unfortunate.”
He looked at her.
“You don’t.”
“Not when it matters.”
One night, Oliver fell asleep on the sofa during a movie.
Emma carefully picked him up.
Ethan helped her carry him upstairs.
When they returned to the hallway, they stood close.
Neither moved.
Ethan lowered his voice.
“You’re different at home.”
“How?”
“Less guarded.”
She looked at him.
“You are too.”
He smiled.
“Maybe because there isn’t anyone here to impress.”
Emma’s heart skipped.
Then he asked:
“Have you ever dated anyone?”
She looked away.
“Why?”
“Curious.”
“You first.”
Ethan laughed.
“Too many.”
“At least you’re honest.”
“I never said they mattered.”
She looked at him.
“Maybe one day you’ll meet someone who does.”
He stared at her.
“Maybe I already did.”
Emma’s breath caught.
Before she could answer, Oliver called from upstairs.
“Ethan!”
They both stepped apart.
But the moment stayed between them.
