Victor smiled.
He didn’t look like a criminal.
That was what made him frightening.
He looked like a grandfather.
“Where is the evidence?”
Emily backed away.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Victor sighed.
“Your mother said the same thing.”
Emily’s blood ran cold.
“You were there.”
“Yes.”
“You killed her.”
“I gave an order.”
The room seemed to tilt.
Victor stepped closer.
“Your mother was going to destroy everything Arthur had built.”
“He built it honestly.”
“Arthur built the empire.”
Victor smiled.
“I built the system that kept it alive.”
Emily understood.
Victor had been siphoning money for years.
When Laura discovered it, he arranged her death.
Then he manipulated Daniel.
He controlled the board.
He isolated Arthur.
And when Arthur disappeared, Victor began preparing to take complete control.
“You killed my mother.”
Victor’s expression barely changed.
“I removed a threat.”
Emily grabbed her phone.
Victor saw it.
Before she could move, two men entered.
They took the phone.
Emily fought.
She screamed.
Nobody came.
Victor leaned closer.
“You have something your mother hid.”
“The necklace?”
Victor’s expression changed for the first time.
“Yes.”
Emily smiled.
“You’re afraid of it.”
“No.”
“Then why are you here?”
Victor stared at her.
“Because your mother was clever.”
He paused.
“But she made one mistake.”
“What?”
“She believed Arthur would find you.”
The men dragged Emily away.
Victor watched.
