She Hired a Cold Bodyguard to Protect Her From the World — Then He Became the Only Place She Felt Safe
Chapter 11
Daniel submitted his resignation.
Ava stared at the letter.
“What is this?”
“I think it’s time.”
Her heart sank.
“You don’t want to be with me?”
“That’s not the problem.”
“Then what is?”
“I don’t want you wondering whether I’m staying because I’m being paid.”
She looked at him.
“You think I don’t know the difference?”
“I know you do.”
“Then why?”
“Because I love you.”
She froze.
He continued.
“And I want to know that when you choose me, it’s because I’m Daniel.”
Ava walked toward him.
“You are Daniel.”
She touched his face.
“The man who remembers my coffee order.”
She smiled through tears.
“The man who knows when I’m pretending to be okay.”
She moved closer.
“The man who met my mother and didn’t try to impress her.”
Then she whispered:
“The man I want to marry.”
Daniel stared at her.
“You don’t have to say that.”
“I know.”
“Then why did you?”
“Because I mean it.”
He pulled her into his arms.
That night, they told both families.
Daniel’s mother cried.
Ava’s father was silent for several seconds.
Then he said:
“If you break her heart, I’ll find you.”
Daniel smiled.
“I believe you.”
Victoria laughed.
For the first time, the Sinclair family welcomed him without hesitation.
