She Accidentally Sent Her Breakup Text to a Stranger—He Replied, “Don’t Send That Yet.”
Chapter 13
Five years passed.
Emily and Ethan built a life that had nothing to do with Project Horizon.
They had a daughter.
They expanded the bakery.
Ethan’s company became more transparent.
He created a foundation for people affected by financial fraud.
Emily helped run it.
Daniel served as a financial consultant after completing his sentence and rebuilding his life.
Her mother stayed close.
The past became history.
Then, one rainy evening, Emily sat in the bakery after closing.
She was looking at an old framed note.
The breakup text.
Ethan came in.
“You’re still keeping it?”
“Of course.”
“You’re strange.”
“You knew that.”
He sat beside her.
“Do you ever regret not sending it?”
Emily thought.
“No.”
“Why?”
“Because it taught me something.”
“What?”
“That sometimes you’re not actually asking someone to stay.”
She looked at him.
“You’re asking them to choose you.”
He smiled.
“And?”
“And you chose me.”
He took her hand.
“I always will.”
She smiled.
Then their daughter came running into the room.
“Mom!”
“Yes?”
“Dad said we’re going home.”
Ethan laughed.
“You betrayed me.”
“She did.”
Their daughter climbed into Emily’s lap.
“Are you coming?”
Emily looked at Ethan.
“Yes.”
They closed the bakery.
Outside, the rain had stopped.
The city lights reflected on the wet streets.
They walked home together.
Not billionaire and baker.
Not strangers.
Not people connected by some secret family plan.
Just two people who had made a choice.
The right one.
