My Wife Told Everyone I Was ‘Just a Driver’ — Then I Found Out Her Secret Too.
Chapter 12
Richard and Graham were arrested.
The company survived.
The fraud was exposed.
The Blackwood Account was transferred into a court-supervised trust.
Daniel could have taken millions.
Instead, he created a foundation for single parents and children affected by corporate crime.
Claire resigned from the company.
She refused to keep anything she had inherited through Richard.
She sold the house.
The cars.
The investments.
She kept only one thing.
A photograph of Daniel and Sophie.
Six months later, the old labels disappeared.
Daniel wasn’t “just a driver.”
He became chairman of Harrison & Brooks.
But he kept driving.
Not professionally.
He liked picking Sophie up from school himself.
Claire started working with the foundation.
For the first time, she had a life that wasn’t controlled by her father’s expectations.
One evening, Daniel found her sitting outside the bakery where his father had hidden the Blackwood documents.
“You okay?”
She nodded.
“I was thinking.”
“About what?”
“About the night you heard me call you a driver.”
He sat beside her.
“I remember.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I know.”
“You deserved better.”
He looked at her.
“So did you.”
She smiled.
“You still love me?”
Daniel was quiet.
“Yes.”
Her eyes filled.
“Then why haven’t you asked me to come home?”
He smiled.
“Because you need to choose it.”
She leaned closer.
“I’m choosing it.”
He kissed her.
Slowly.
Carefully.
Not like they were trying to erase the past.
Like they were building something new.
Then Sophie ran outside.
“Are you kissing?”
They separated.
Daniel laughed.
“Apparently.”
Sophie groaned.
“Gross.”
Claire laughed.
Then Sophie climbed into their arms.
For the first time in years, Daniel felt peace.
Not because every secret had disappeared.
But because there were no more secrets between them.
