My Wife Told Everyone I Was ‘Just a Driver’ — Then I Found Out Her Secret Too.

Chapter 11

Claire understood the danger immediately.

The Blackwood Account had been designed with two signatures.

Daniel.

And Claire.

Richard needed both.

That was why he had kept Claire close.

Why he had watched Daniel.

Why he had manipulated their lives.

Daniel looked at her.

“So that’s the secret.”

Claire nodded.

“My father needed us married.”

“For the account.”

“Yes.”

“Then why divorce?”

“He didn’t know we’d started investigating.”

Daniel shook his head.

“That’s why he wanted the marriage to look broken.”

Claire’s eyes filled.

“He wanted me isolated.”

“He almost succeeded.”

They prepared the final operation.

Thomas gave them access to the bank.

Mark secured the corporate servers.

Emily protected Sophie until they could reach her.

Daniel and Claire went to the company headquarters.

The board was already assembled.

Richard was there.

So was Graham.

Richard smiled.

“You should’ve stayed a driver.”

Daniel stepped forward.

“I was never just a driver.”

Richard laughed.

“You gave up a career for a child.”

“Yes.”

“And called that success.”

Daniel smiled.

“Now I know it was.”

Richard looked at Claire.

“Come here.”

She didn’t move.

“You raised me to obey you.”

“I raised you to survive.”

“You taught me fear.”

Richard’s expression hardened.

“I taught you power.”

Claire shook her head.

“No.”

She took Daniel’s hand.

“You taught me what I never want to become.”

Graham slammed his fist on the table.

“This is pointless.”

Daniel pressed a button.

Every screen in the boardroom turned on.

The recordings began.

Richard’s voice.

Bribery.

Fraud.

Threats.

The murder plan.

The board members stared in shock.

Richard turned pale.

“You forged those.”

Thomas Mercer walked into the room.

“No.”

Richard froze.

“You.”

Thomas smiled.

“I’ve waited twenty years.”

Federal agents entered.

Graham reached for his phone.

An agent stopped him.

“Don’t.”

Richard looked at Claire.

“Don’t do this.”

She stared back.

“You did it to yourself.”

He whispered,

“You’re my daughter.”

Claire’s eyes filled with tears.

“That’s why this hurts.”

She handed the investigators the final documents.

Then Daniel’s phone rang.

Emily.

“Sophie is safe.”

He closed his eyes in relief.

But then Emily said,

“There’s something else.”

“What?”

“Sophie wants Claire.”

Daniel looked at Claire.

“She wants to talk to you.”

Claire took the phone.

“Hi, sweetheart.”

Sophie answered.

“Victoria?”

Claire laughed through tears.

“You mean Claire.”

“Sorry.”

“It’s okay.”

Sophie said,

“Daddy said you were scared.”

“I was.”

“Are you still?”

Claire looked at Daniel.

“No.”

“Why?”

Claire smiled.

“Because I’m not alone.”
