Ethan never talked about Olivia.

When his assistant announced the new design firm for the Los Angeles project, Ethan barely looked up.
“What’s the firm called?”
“Hart Design.”
He froze.
“Who owns it?”
“Olivia Hart.”
For several seconds, he said nothing.
Then he stood.
“Get me the file.”
He opened the documents.
Her name stared back at him.
Five years.
No contact.
No explanation.
He told himself he felt nothing.
Then the office door opened.
Olivia walked in.

And completely calm.
Ethan stared at her.
“Olivia.”
She nodded.
“Ethan.”
He looked at her face.
“Why are you here?”
“I’m working.”
“With my company?”
“On a project.”
He wanted to ask a hundred questions.

“You could have contacted me.”
She looked directly at him.
“Would you have listened?”

Then someone small ran into the room.
“Mom!”

A little boy wrapped both arms around her.
Ethan looked at him.

The boy turned.

“Who is he?”
