Billionaire Pretends To Be Homeless To Find True Love, Then This Happened

Chapter 10

Five years after their wedding, Adrian received an unexpected letter.

It came from a man in prison.

Victor Kane.

He wanted to meet.

Adrian initially refused.

Then Victor sent information about something more serious.

Richard Vale had not acted alone.

There was another person involved.

Someone inside Blackwell Holdings.

Someone who had helped manipulate the company’s finances before Adrian’s disappearance.

Adrian reopened the investigation.

The evidence led to a senior board member.

The man had been stealing millions through shell companies.

Adrian confronted him.

“You thought I wouldn’t notice.”

The man laughed.

“You were distracted.”

“By what?”

“Your little experiment.”

Adrian’s face hardened.

“You used Emily.”

“No.”

“You knew where she lived.”

The man shrugged.

“I knew everything.”

Adrian realized how close Emily had come to danger.

The board member was arrested.

The company recovered the stolen funds.

But Adrian didn’t celebrate.

He went home.

Emily was sitting with Grace.

She immediately noticed his expression.

“What happened?”

Adrian told her.

She hugged him.

“It’s over.”

He nodded.

“I’m tired.”

“I know.”

She held his hand.

“Come home.”

He smiled.

That was the word he had never understood before.

Home.

Not a penthouse.

Not a mansion.

Not a building.

A person.

The next morning, Adrian announced that he would step down as CEO.

The board was shocked.

He appointed a professional executive team.

Blackwell Holdings would continue without him.

Marcus asked:

“Are you sure?”

“Yes.”

“What will you do?”

Adrian smiled.

“Live.”

He spent more time with Emily and Grace.

He worked occasionally on charitable projects.

He visited the café.

He traveled.

He learned to cook.

He became terrible at gardening.

Emily laughed constantly.

One afternoon, they sat on the café’s terrace.

Adrian looked at her.

“Do you ever regret meeting me?”

Emily smiled.

“Sometimes.”

“Seriously?”

“You burned twelve pastries yesterday.”

“That’s unrelated.”

She laughed.

He reached for her hand.

“Thank you.”

“For what?”

“For loving me.”

Emily squeezed his hand.

“I didn’t love the billionaire.”

“I know.”

“I loved the man under the awning.”

Adrian smiled.

“Good.”

She leaned against him.

“And you?”

“I loved the woman with the umbrella.”

They sat quietly.

Around them, customers laughed.

Children read books.

Someone played music.

The café was exactly what Emily had once dreamed about.

A place where people could sit without being judged.

A place where nobody cared how much money someone had.

And Adrian realized that the woman he had been searching for had never been hidden.

He had simply been looking in the wrong places.
