Billionaire Pretends To Be Homeless To Find True Love, Then This Happened

Chapter 6

Three months passed.

Adrian stopped contacting Emily.

He respected her decision.

He returned to work.

Blackwell Holdings recovered.

But he changed.

He stopped attending social events.

He stopped dating.

He donated anonymously.

He began spending time with employees instead of investors.

Marcus noticed.

“You’re different.”

“Maybe.”

“You still love her.”

Adrian looked at him.

“Every day.”

Meanwhile, Emily opened the café.

But she didn’t use Adrian’s money.

She sold the building’s lease and used the proceeds to rent a smaller space.

She wanted to build it herself.

The café opened six weeks later.

She named it Second Chance.

Adrian heard about it.

He didn’t go.

Until one rainy evening.

He was walking home after a meeting.

He saw Emily through the window.

She was laughing with customers.

A child was reading in the corner.

An elderly man was drinking coffee.

A homeless woman sat at a table with a warm meal.

Adrian smiled.

He turned to leave.

Emily opened the door.

“Are you going to stand there all night?”

Adrian looked at her.

“I didn’t want to bother you.”

“You’ve been standing there for five minutes.”

“I was deciding.”

“About?”

“Whether I should come in.”

Emily stepped aside.

“Come in.”

He entered.

The café smelled like coffee and cinnamon.

Emily handed him a cup.

“On the house.”

Adrian smiled.

“Thank you.”

They sat.

Silence.

Then Emily said:

“I was angry.”

“I know.”

“Very angry.”

“I know.”

“But I kept thinking about something.”

“What?”

“The day we met.”

Adrian looked at her.

“You gave me your umbrella.”

“Yes.”

“You didn’t know who I was.”

“No.”

“You didn’t care.”

“I didn’t.”

“Why?”

Emily smiled.

“Because you looked cold.”

Adrian laughed softly.

She continued.

“That’s who you were to me.”

“What do you mean?”

“A cold, lonely man sitting under an awning.”

She looked at him.

“Not a billionaire.”

Adrian’s eyes filled.

“I wanted you to know me.”

“You should have trusted me enough to let me.”

“You’re right.”

Emily looked down.

“I still don’t know if I can trust you.”

“I understand.”

“But I know one thing.”

“What?”

“I missed you.”

Adrian reached across the table.

He stopped before touching her.

Emily noticed.

She slowly placed her hand over his.

“That’s a start.”

For the first time in months, Adrian smiled.

Not the smile he used at business meetings.

Not the smile for cameras.

A real one.

Emily smiled too.

But neither of them noticed the man standing outside the café.

Richard Vale’s former associate.

He had been released on bail.

And he had not forgotten Adrian.
