“A Don Doesn’t Date Fat Girls,” She Spat. He Locked The Door “Watch Me Make You My Wife”

Chapter 15

A year after the wedding, Bianca stood in front of a crowded ballroom.

This time, the room belonged to her.

The foundation she had created in her mother’s name had funded hundreds of scholarships.

Dozens of women had received legal support.

Small businesses had been started.

People who once felt invisible had been given opportunities.

Matteo stood at the back of the room.

He never interrupted her speeches.

He just watched.

Bianca stepped toward the microphone.

“When I was younger,” she began, “I thought confidence meant pretending other people’s words didn’t hurt.”

The room went silent.

“I was wrong.”

She looked across the crowd.

“Confidence isn’t never being hurt.”

She paused.

“It’s refusing to let cruelty define you.”

People listened.

Bianca continued.

“I spent years believing I had to become smaller to be loved.”

Matteo’s eyes softened.

“Smaller in body. Smaller in dreams. Smaller in ambition. Smaller in every room.”

She took a breath.

“Then someone taught me something different.”

She looked at Matteo.

“He didn’t tell me to shrink.”

A smile spread across her face.

“He told me to take up space.”

The room applauded.

Later that night, they returned home.

Bianca removed her shoes and dropped onto the sofa.

Matteo loosened his tie.

“You were incredible.”

“Thank you.”

“You looked terrifying.”

“Good.”

He laughed.

She leaned against him.

“Do you remember the first night?”

“The gala?”

“Yes.”

“The argument.”

“The insult.”

“The security threat.”

“The locked door.”

Matteo smiled.

“You still hate that door.”

“I do.”

“I locked it for security.”

“I know.”

“You almost killed me with your eyes.”

“I considered it.”

He laughed.

Bianca touched his face.

“And then you said something ridiculous.”

“What?”

“Watch me make you my wife.”

Matteo smiled.

“I did.”

She held up her hand.

“You did.”

He kissed her ring.

“I meant every word.”

Bianca rested her head against him.

“There’s something else I learned.”

“What?”

“Love isn’t somebody deciding you’re worthy.”

She looked into his eyes.

“It’s finding someone who already knows you are.”

Matteo pulled her closer.

Outside, the city glittered.

The same city that once whispered about her body now knew her name.

Not as the Don’s wife.

Not as the woman who married into power.

But as Bianca Moretti De Luca.

A woman who built something of her own.

A woman who refused to become smaller.

A woman who had finally stopped asking whether she belonged.

And somewhere in the quiet of the night, Matteo remembered the cruel sentence that had started everything.

A Don doesn’t date fat girls.

He had never needed to prove the sentence wrong by changing Bianca.

He proved it wrong by loving her exactly as she was.

And when she asked him once what he had seen in her that first night, his answer never changed.

“Courage.”

That was the truth.

Not her size.

Not her money.

Not her beauty.

Not her husband’s name.

Her courage.

Because the woman who had once walked into a ballroom and refused to disappear had become the woman who could walk into any room and own her place in it.

And the Don?

He never wanted a smaller wife.

He wanted the woman who took up the whole room.
