“A Don Doesn’t Date Fat Girls,” She Spat. He Locked The Door “Watch Me Make You My Wife”
Chapter 13
Luca’s betrayal shattered everything Matteo believed about his family.
For years, he had blamed himself for failing Bianca’s father.
Now he realized someone had deliberately placed him at the center of the guilt.
Luca had arranged the ambush.
Luca had helped move the money.
Luca had forged the trust documents.
And Luca had secretly worked with Russo.
But there was still one thing missing.
The original trust key.
Without it, Bianca couldn’t legally activate the protective clauses her mother had written into the trust.
Matteo and Bianca returned to the hotel.
They searched every room.
Nothing.
Then Bianca remembered her mother’s letter.
You were supposed to inherit a choice.
A choice.
Not money.
Not property.
A choice.
She read the sentence again.
Then looked at the red key.
“It’s not for a room.”
Matteo understood.
“It’s for a lock.”
They returned to the old Moretti house.
In her mother’s bedroom, Bianca found a painting.
A sailing ship.
She removed it.
Behind it was a small steel box.
The red key fit.
Inside was another letter.
And a second key.
Bianca read.
If they come for the trust, don’t protect the money. Protect the evidence.
The second key opened a digital drive.
The drive contained everything.
Payments.
Names.
Recordings.
Photographs.
Proof that Luca and Russo had orchestrated the murders.
Proof that several officials had been bribed.
Proof that Matteo’s father had tried to stop them.
And proof that Matteo’s father had died because of it.
Bianca looked at Matteo.
“Your father was innocent.”
He read the files.
His eyes filled with tears.
For the first time, the Don looked like a son.
Just a son.
“He spent his whole life thinking he had failed.”
“He didn’t.”
Matteo sat down.
Bianca touched his shoulder.
“You found the truth.”
He covered her hand with his.
“You did.”
She shook her head.
“We did.”
They took the evidence to federal investigators.
Within hours, arrest warrants were issued.
Russo was captured trying to leave the state.
Luca was arrested at a private airfield.
The corruption network began collapsing.
The Moretti trust was restored.
The twenty-two million remained untouched.
But Bianca made a decision.
She didn’t want the money for herself.
She created a foundation in her mother’s name.
It funded women escaping abusive situations, legal aid programs, and scholarships for people who had been denied opportunities because of their background or appearance.
Matteo supported every decision.
Then one evening, they stood alone on the balcony.
“Are you still thinking about the contract?” he asked.
Bianca smiled.
“No.”
“Why?”
She turned toward him.
“Because I know what I want.”
He waited.
She held his gaze.
“I want you.”
Matteo’s breath caught.
“And?”
“And I want the marriage.”
He smiled.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
“Not because you need protection?”
“No.”
“Not because you’re afraid?”
“No.”
“Then why?”
She stepped closer.
“Because you see me.”
Matteo touched her cheek.
“I always have.”
She smiled.
“Then ask properly.”
He did.
No contract.
No pressure.
No audience.
Just one man and one woman standing beneath the city lights.
“Bianca Moretti,” he said quietly, “will you marry me?”
She laughed through tears.
“Yes.”
