“A Don Doesn’t Date Fat Girls,” She Spat. He Locked The Door “Watch Me Make You My Wife”

Chapter 10

The next forty-eight hours became a race.

Russo had the trust documents.

Luca was missing.

And Bianca remained the only person who could legally challenge the transfer.

Matteo moved her to a second safe house.

This one was smaller.

Quieter.

There was a garden.

Real windows.

A kitchen.

For the first time since the gala, Bianca felt like she could breathe.

Matteo cooked dinner.

Badly.

She watched him burn garlic.

“You run a criminal empire and can’t cook?”

“I can cook.”

“You’re burning it.”

“It’s intentional.”

She laughed.

He looked at her.

“What?”

“Nothing.”

“You’re smiling.”

“I am.”

“Why?”

“Because you look normal.”

He turned off the stove.

“I’m not normal.”

“I know.”

He walked toward her.

“And neither are you.”

She smiled.

“Good.”

They sat down.

For an hour, there were no threats.

No family secrets.

No money.

Just conversation.

Then Bianca asked:

“What would you do if you weren’t the Don?”

Matteo thought.

“Build boats.”

She blinked.

“Boats?”

“My mother loved the sea.”

“And you?”

“I never got enough of it.”

Bianca smiled.

“I thought you’d say something terrifying.”

“I can be boring.”

“That’s disappointing.”

He laughed.

Then the security alarm sounded.

Matteo stood instantly.

A guard entered.

“Boss, we found Luca.”

“Where?”

“Warehouse district.”

“Alive?”

“Yes.”

They drove there.

Luca was tied to a chair.

Bruised.

But alive.

He looked at Bianca.

“You came.”

She stepped forward.

“Where are the documents?”

“Russo has them.”

“Where?”

Luca looked at Matteo.

“Your old family warehouse.”

Matteo’s face became cold.

“They want me there.”

“Yes.”

Luca lowered his voice.

“Because Russo knows what you haven’t figured out.”

“What?”

“He knows why your father was killed.”

Bianca stared.

“What?”

Luca looked at her.

“Your father found out Russo wasn’t working alone.”

“With whom?”

Luca hesitated.

Then said:

“Someone inside the De Luca family.”

Matteo froze.

“Who?”

Luca whispered:

“Your father.”

Silence.

Bianca looked at Matteo.

He appeared stunned.

“My father?”

Luca nodded.

“He was supposed to betray Russo.”

“He refused.”

“Yes.”

“So why was he involved?”

“Because years earlier, he had made a deal.”

Matteo’s voice hardened.

“What deal?”

Luca looked toward Bianca.

“A deal involving her mother’s company.”

Matteo’s jaw tightened.

“And my mother?”

“She discovered the deal.”

“What happened?”

“She died three years before your father.”

Bianca’s face went white.

“You said my mother died naturally.”

Luca looked away.

“I lied.”

The room fell silent.

Matteo closed his eyes.

Bianca whispered:

“Then everyone lied to me.”

Luca nodded.

“Because your parents weren’t trying to protect the money.”

He looked at her.

“They were trying to protect you.”
