“A Don Doesn’t Date Fat Girls,” She Spat. He Locked The Door “Watch Me Make You My Wife”
Chapter 11
Bianca barely spoke on the drive back.
Her mother hadn’t died naturally.
Her father had lied.
Matteo’s father had been involved.
And the truth had been hidden from her for years.
When they reached the safe house, she went straight to the garden.
Matteo followed but kept his distance.
“I need to be alone.”
“I know.”
She sat beneath a tree.
For almost an hour, he didn’t speak.
Finally, Bianca looked up.
“Did you know about my mother?”
“No.”
“You swear?”
“Yes.”
“Did you know my father was investigating your family?”
“Yes.”
“Did you know he was afraid?”
“Yes.”
“Did you know he left me a trust?”
“No.”
She looked at him.
“Then maybe you’re the only person who didn’t lie.”
Matteo sat beside her.
“I lied about one thing.”
She turned.
“What?”
“I told you I was protecting you because your father asked.”
She waited.
“That isn’t the whole truth.”
“Then what is?”
“I would’ve protected you anyway.”
Her expression softened.
“Why?”
He looked straight ahead.
“Because I fell in love with you.”
The words were so simple that they hurt.
Bianca swallowed.
“When?”
“Before the gala.”
She laughed softly.
“Of course.”
“What?”
“You’ve been watching me forever.”
“Yes.”
“Creepy.”
“A little.”
She smiled.
Then her phone rang.
Unknown number.
She answered.
Russo’s voice came through.
“Bianca.”
Her blood ran cold.
“What do you want?”
“What belongs to you.”
“I don’t know what that means.”
“You know enough.”
He paused.
“Come to the warehouse.”
“No.”
“Then I’ll start releasing your mother’s private records.”
Bianca’s face changed.
“What records?”
“Every secret.”
He hung up.
Matteo was already standing.
“What did he say?”
She told him.
Matteo shook his head.
“You’re not going alone.”
“I wasn’t planning to.”
“But you’re not going.”
“Matteo—”
“No.”
She stared at him.
“You said you wouldn’t control me.”
“I won’t.”
“Then don’t.”
He stopped.
She stepped closer.
“Let me make this choice.”
Matteo looked at her.
“What choice?”
“To go.”
“No.”
She touched his hand.
“I’m not doing this because I’m reckless.”
“Then why?”
“Because Russo thinks I’m someone who needs to be saved.”
She looked him directly in the eyes.
“I want to prove him wrong.”
Matteo’s jaw tightened.
Then he nodded.
“Fine.”
He handed her a small earpiece.
“You stay on my line.”
“Okay.”
“If anything changes, you run.”
“Okay.”
“And Bianca?”
“Yes?”
“Come back to me.”
She smiled.
“I intend to.”
That night, Bianca entered the warehouse alone.
The doors closed behind her.
Russo stood in the center.
A briefcase rested beside him.
And behind him were the missing trust documents.
He smiled.
“You really came.”
Bianca looked at him.
“You have something that belongs to me.”
Russo laughed.
“Not yet.”
He opened the briefcase.
Inside was a document.
“The trust transfer.”
Bianca stepped closer.
Then she saw the signature.
Her father’s.
But the date was impossible.
It was dated three days after his death.
Her heart stopped.
Russo smiled.
“Now you understand.”
Someone had forged her father’s signature.
And whoever had done it had access to the family records from the inside.
