My Fiancé Skipped Our Wedding for His Assistant — Then I Married the Billionaire Who Had Loved Me

Chapter 1

Natalie Brooks had imagined her wedding day since she was a little girl.

Not because she wanted a spectacular ceremony.

She wanted certainty.

A quiet morning.

A beautiful white dress.

Her closest friends.

And the man she loved waiting for her at the end of the aisle.

For two years, she had been engaged to Daniel Mercer.

Daniel was charming, ambitious, and the rising executive of his family’s luxury real-estate company.

They had met at a charity gala and fallen in love quickly.

Or at least, Natalie thought they had.

At eight forty-five on their wedding morning, Natalie was sitting inside a private bridal suite, staring at her reflection.

Her dress was perfect.

Her hair was perfect.

Everything was ready.

Except Daniel hadn’t arrived.

She checked her phone.

No messages.

Her maid of honor, Lily, entered the room.

“Still nothing?”

Natalie shook her head.

“He was supposed to be here an hour ago.”

Lily frowned.

“Maybe traffic?”

Natalie smiled nervously.

“He wouldn’t miss this.”

Ten minutes later, her phone vibrated.

One message.

From Daniel.

Natalie’s fingers trembled as she opened it.

I’m sorry. I can’t do this.

She stared at the screen.

Then another message appeared.

I’ve chosen someone else. Please don’t make this harder than it already is.

Natalie couldn’t breathe.

Lily grabbed the phone.

“What does that mean?”

Natalie whispered:

“He isn’t coming.”

Outside, two hundred guests waited.

The music was ready.

The priest was waiting.

The flowers were already arranged.

And at the back of the cathedral, a man in an impeccably tailored black suit quietly stood up.

His name was Alexander Sterling.

Billionaire.

Business rival of Daniel’s family.

And the man who had loved Natalie for years without ever telling her.
