Tipsy Waitress Poked the Mafia Boss’s Chest—Then He Slung Her Over His Shoulder and Took Her

Chapter 14

A year passed.

Blackwood changed.

The corruption exposed by the ledger led to arrests across the city.

Judges resigned.

Bankers disappeared into courtrooms.

Police officers were charged.

Marcus Vale received multiple life sentences.

Victor Kane’s surviving associates testified.

Mia’s father’s name was cleared.

Her mother was remembered not as a victim, but as the woman who had hidden the evidence that eventually destroyed the network.

And Luca?

He became almost unrecognizable.

He still wore black.

He still intimidated people without trying.

But children in the neighborhood now knew him as the man who funded their community center.

Mia knew the truth.

He hadn’t become softer.

He had simply discovered where his strength belonged.

One rainy evening, Luca took her to the restaurant where everything had started.

The building had been rebuilt.

The private dining room looked almost exactly the same.

Mia stared at the fireplace.

“This is where I poked you.”

“Three times.”

“You counted?”

“I count everything.”

She laughed.

“Were you angry?”

“No.”

“Scared?”

“No.”

“Then what?”

Luca walked toward her.

“Interested.”

“In me?”

“From the moment you called me just a man.”

Mia smiled.

“You were terrifying.”

“You were drunk.”

“Tipsy.”

“Right.”

She poked his chest again.

Luca caught her wrist.

“Still doing that.”

“Still dangerous?”

“Very.”

He pulled her closer.

Mia looked into his eyes.

“What changed?”

He understood the question.

“Everything.”

“Because of me?”

“Because you reminded me that being powerful isn’t the same as being cruel.”

Her eyes softened.

“And what am I?”

Luca brushed a strand of hair away from her face.

“The woman who walked into a room afraid of nothing.”

Mia smiled.

“I was definitely afraid.”

“I know.”

“Then why didn’t you let me go?”

Luca’s answer was immediate.

“Because I knew you’d come back.”

She laughed.

“You’re arrogant.”

“Yes.”

“And impossible.”

“Yes.”

“And I love you.”

For once, Luca had no clever response.

He simply kissed her.

Outside, rain tapped softly against the windows.

Inside, the man who had once ruled through fear finally understood something he had never learned from power.

Sometimes the strongest person in the room is the one who gives you a reason to stop fighting.
