The Maid’s Toddler Copied the Mafia Boss’s Angry Face—His Reaction Made Everyone Laugh!
Chapter 5
Vincent ordered everyone out of the room.
Only me and Leo remained.
He stared at the photograph for several minutes.
“My brother died in a car accident.”
“That’s what everyone says.”
“It wasn’t what I was told.”
I looked at him.
“What does that mean?”
“My father said Marcus was killed by a rival.”
“And?”
“And I believed him.”
Vincent rubbed his forehead.
“If he’s alive, then half my family’s history is false.”
Leo crawled onto the couch.
He held the toy car Vincent had bought him.
“Boss sad.”
Vincent looked at him.
Leo touched his hand.
Vincent didn’t move.
“Maybe he knows,” I whispered.
“Knows what?”
“That you’re worried.”
Vincent looked at Leo.
Then smiled faintly.
“Children notice too much.”
That afternoon, Vincent called his oldest security chief.
“Find Marcus.”
The man looked shocked.
“Sir?”
“Quietly.”
“Yes.”
“And no one outside this room knows.”
The investigation started.
At the same time, Richard returned.
He walked into the mansion smiling.
“Morning, boss.”
Vincent stared at him.
“Richard.”
“You called?”
“No.”
Richard looked around.
“Something wrong?”
Vincent’s face remained unreadable.
“Everything is fine.”
Richard smiled.
“Good.”
Then he saw Leo.
The toddler was holding his toy car.
Richard’s expression changed for half a second.
I noticed.
Vincent noticed too.
“Do you know my maid’s son?”
Richard smiled.
“Not personally.”
Leo stared at him.
Then copied Vincent’s angry face.
Richard laughed.
“Cute kid.”
Vincent didn’t laugh.
He watched Richard carefully.
After Richard left, Vincent spoke.
“He recognized Leo.”
“What?”
“Not as a child.”
“What do you mean?”
“His reaction.”
I remembered it.
He had looked at Leo like he knew something.
That night, Vincent increased security.
But he didn’t tell me why.
The next morning, one of the guards found something outside the nursery.
A photograph.
Leo sleeping.
Taken through the window.
My hands shook.
Vincent took it immediately.
“Where?”
“Outside, sir.”
“When?”
“Last night.”
Vincent’s face turned cold.
“Find everyone who entered the property.”
The guard nodded.
Then Vincent looked at me.
“You and Leo are moving into my private residence.”
I stared.
“What?”
“It’s more secure.”
“I can’t.”
“Yes, you can.”
“I work here.”
“I know.”
“People will talk.”
“I don’t care.”
“You can’t just move my entire life.”
Vincent stepped closer.
“They photographed your son while he slept.”
I went quiet.
He lowered his voice.
“I will not let anyone use him to get to me.”
That sounded less like an order.
More like a promise.
We moved that night.
The private residence was smaller than the mansion.
Still enormous.
But warmer.
Leo loved it.
He ran around the living room.
Vincent watched from the doorway.
“Boss!”
Leo ran toward him.
Vincent picked him up.
“Slow down.”
Leo touched Vincent’s face.
Then made the angry face again.
Vincent laughed.
“Still doing that?”
Leo nodded.
“Boss.”
Vincent shook his head.
“You’re going to ruin my reputation.”
Leo giggled.
I smiled.
Then noticed something.
Vincent was wearing a small silver bracelet.
I had seen it once before.
In Daniel’s photograph.
“You knew my son’s father well.”
Vincent looked at his wrist.
“He gave me this.”
“Before he disappeared?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“He said it was a reminder.”
“Of what?”
Vincent looked away.
“Trust the people who have less power than you.”
I stared.
“Daniel said that?”
“Yes.”
“And you remembered?”
“I remember everything people say before they die.”
My heart sank.
Then Vincent looked at me.
“Especially when they were right.”
That night, Leo fell asleep between us on the couch.
Vincent looked at him.
Then asked quietly,
“Can I ask you something?”
“Yes.”
“If Daniel were alive…”
I waited.
“Would you go back to him?”
The question shocked me.
I looked at Vincent.
“I don’t know.”
He nodded.
“Good.”
“Why?”
“Because I don’t think I’m the only person who wants to know.”
I didn’t understand.
Then the security alarm sounded.
A man had entered the property.
The cameras caught his face.
Vincent stared.
It was Marcus Blackwood.
Alive.
And standing outside the house.
