The Maid’s Toddler Copied the Mafia Boss’s Angry Face—His Reaction Made Everyone Laugh!
Chapter 4
Vincent didn’t confront me immediately.
That frightened me more.
He became quiet.
He watched Leo.
Watched me.
Asked fewer questions.
Then one morning, I found him in the nursery.
He was holding an old photograph.
I froze.
“Where did you get that?”
“My security team found it in Daniel’s old file.”
It showed Daniel standing beside me.
Before he disappeared.
I sat down.
“You were pregnant.”
“Yes.”
“He knew?”
I nodded.
“He knew.”
“Why didn’t he tell me?”
“He was afraid.”
“Of me?”
“Of what would happen.”
Vincent looked at the photograph.
“Did he love you?”
I swallowed.
“I don’t know.”
“Do you?”
I looked away.
“I loved him.”
Vincent nodded slowly.
Then he asked the question I had feared.
“Is Leo his?”
“Yes.”
Silence.
Vincent closed his eyes.
For a moment, the mafia boss disappeared.
He looked like a man receiving bad news about someone he had once trusted.
“What happened to Daniel?”
“I told you.”
“You said he disappeared.”
“Yes.”
“You didn’t know where?”
“No.”
Vincent looked at me.
“I think he was killed.”
My heart stopped.
“What?”
“He took something.”
“What?”
“Money.”
I shook my head.
“Daniel didn’t steal.”
Vincent’s expression softened slightly.
“You believe that.”
“I knew him.”
“I knew him too.”
That sentence carried years of history.
Then Vincent told me something I had never heard.
Daniel had been investigating a traitor inside the organization.
He had discovered money disappearing from several accounts.
He planned to expose the person responsible.
Then he disappeared.
Vincent had assumed Daniel betrayed him.
But now he wasn’t sure.
“Why?”
“Because he left something behind.”
Vincent took out a small key.
“It was found in his locker.”
I stared.
“What does it open?”
“We don’t know.”
Leo suddenly walked in.
He looked at the key.
Then pointed.
“Mine.”
Vincent frowned.
“Your key?”
Leo nodded.
“Daddy.”
I froze.
Vincent did too.
“Daddy?”
Leo pointed at the key.
“Daddy gave.”
My heart raced.
“Leo, did Daddy give you that?”
He nodded.
“Where?”
Leo pointed toward the nursery toy box.
We searched.
At the bottom was a small metal case.
The key opened it.
Inside was a memory card.
Vincent stared.
“This was hidden in your son’s room?”
I nodded.
“I didn’t know.”
He connected it to a secure device.
One video appeared.
Daniel.
Alive.
Older than the last photograph.
I covered my mouth.
“Maria.”
The video began.
“If you’re watching this, then I didn’t make it back.”
Daniel looked exhausted.
He spoke quietly.
“Vincent, I didn’t betray you.”
Vincent stared at the screen.
“I found the person moving money.”
A name appeared.
Richard Kane.
Vincent’s second-in-command.
I had heard his name.
Everyone had.
Daniel continued.
“Richard is planning to take over.”
He paused.
“And he’s using your trust in him.”
Vincent’s jaw tightened.
The video ended.
Then another file opened automatically.
Daniel looked directly at the camera.
“Maria, if you’re watching…”
My eyes filled.
“I know about Leo.”
I started crying.
“I’m sorry I left you.”
He explained that he had hidden the memory card because Richard was watching everyone.
“I wanted to come back.”
“I swear.”
Then he said something that made Vincent look at me.
“Keep Leo away from the Blackwood family.”
The video ended.
I whispered,
“Why would he say that?”
Vincent didn’t answer.
Because another file had appeared.
A photograph.
Richard.
And the final person beside him.
Vincent’s older brother.
Marcus Blackwood.
Dead for ten years.
Impossible.
Vincent stared at the image.
“That’s my brother.”
I looked at him.
“But he’s dead.”
“Yes.”
Then Vincent opened the file.
The metadata showed the photograph had been taken three weeks ago.
Someone had been pretending Marcus was dead.
And if Marcus was alive…
the entire Blackwood empire had been built on a lie.
