Adrian smiled.
“Richard gave us that.”

“What?”
“Our mother wants to meet you.”

“Your mother?”
“Yes.”
“I don’t know if I’m ready.”
“She waited twenty-nine years.”
Emma swallowed.
“Then I probably shouldn’t make her wait longer.”
They met three days later.
Margaret Blackwell was seventy.
Elegant.

She looked at Emma.
