He took her back to the cathedral where Amelia had abandoned him.
Grace stopped at the entrance.
“Why here?”
“Because I wanted to change the memory.”
They walked inside.
The church was empty.
The roses were gone.
The altar was quiet.
Ethan looked around.
“I hated this place.”
Grace took his hand.
“And now?”
“Now I think it’s where my real life began.”
She smiled.
“How?”
“Because that was the day I met you.”
“You’d met me before.”

He looked at her.

She became emotional.
“You were hurting.”

They sat together.
Grace whispered:
