Chapter 12

The cargo terminal was silent.

Rows of abandoned containers stood beneath floodlights.

Alexander’s security team remained hidden nearby.

Daniel carried the evidence drive.

Emma carried the notebook.

They entered through the main gate.

Richard appeared at the far end of the terminal.

He wore a black coat.

No guards surrounded him.

“You came.”

Emma stepped forward.

“You wanted me.”

Richard smiled.

“I wanted what your father protected.”

Daniel appeared beside her.

Richard’s smile vanished.

“You.”

Daniel said nothing.

Richard looked at him for a long moment.

“You should have remained a ghost.”

“You should have left my daughter alone.”

Richard laughed.

“Your daughter?”

He looked at Emma.

“Do you know how many people died because your father refused to cooperate?”

Emma answered:

“How many died because you wanted control?”

Richard’s expression hardened.

“You have no idea what this world costs.”

“I know what it cost my family.”

Richard reached into his coat.

Alexander’s security team raised their weapons from hidden positions.

But Alexander signaled them to wait.

Richard pulled out a phone.

“Look.”

A video played.

Margaret sat in a room.

Emma gasped.

Her mother had been kidnapped.

Richard smiled.

“Give me the drive.”

Emma looked at Daniel.

Daniel’s eyes were calm.

He whispered:

“Do it.”

Emma handed over a drive.

Richard took it.

Then he laughed.

“You really thought I wouldn’t check?”

He connected it.

Nothing.

His smile disappeared.

“You…”

Emma said quietly:

“The real evidence was never on that drive.”

Richard looked at her.

“Where is it?”

“Everywhere.”

Alexander stepped forward.

“You are speaking to a room full of cameras.”

Richard’s face changed.

“You’re bluffing.”

“No.”

The hidden cameras activated.

Security lights flooded the terminal.

Police vehicles surrounded the entrance.

Richard raised his weapon.

Alexander shouted:

“Drop it!”

Richard fired.

The bullet struck a metal container.

Security officers rushed forward.

Daniel tackled Richard.

They fell hard onto the concrete.

Emma screamed.

Richard tried to reach for his weapon.

Daniel stopped him.

Seconds later, handcuffs clicked around Richard’s wrists.

Across the terminal, another group of officers found Margaret.

She was alive.

Emma ran to her.

For the first time in six years, her family stood together without anyone needing to hide.

But Richard was smiling.

As police dragged him away, he looked at Alexander.

“You think you’ve won?”

Alexander didn’t answer.

Richard turned to Emma.

“You don’t know what your father did with the final file.”

Emma froze.

Daniel’s expression changed.

Richard laughed.

“There is still one name missing.”
