I Was the Only Employee Sitting Alone at My Boss’s Wedding — Then Her Younger Sister Whispered a Secret That Changed Everything

Chapter 11

A year later, I proposed.

Not at the lake.

Not in the company’s headquarters.

Not at a luxury restaurant.

I took Olivia back to the place where I had first met her as an employee.

The Hartwell office lobby.

It was empty after closing.

I stood beneath the same chandelier where she had once offered me the job that changed my life.

She laughed when she realized.

“This is romantic in a strange way.”

“I wanted somewhere honest.”

I took out the ring.

She stared.

“You bought this?”

“Yes.”

She laughed.

“Not from Natalie?”

“No.”

“Good.”

I knelt.

“I don’t know what happens next.”

She smiled.

“That’s honest.”

“I know you’re going to keep working too much.”

“Probably.”

“I know you’re going to argue with me.”

“Definitely.”

“I know life won’t always be easy.”

She looked at me.

“But?”

“I want it anyway.”

Her eyes filled with tears.

She nodded.

“Yes.”

I stood.

She kissed me.

Then the lights came on.

Natalie shouted from the balcony:

“Finally!”

We both laughed.

Apparently, she had been hiding there the entire time.

Olivia covered her face.

“Why is she like this?”

“Your family?”

“Unfortunately.”

Natalie walked downstairs.

“I organized the engagement dinner.”

Olivia groaned.

“Of course you did.”

I laughed.

For the first time, the wedding wasn’t a trap.

It was something we chose together.
