The Mafia Boss Brought His Secretary as His Fake Date—Then Got Jealous When Every Man Wanted Her

Chapter 13

The wedding was supposed to be small.

It wasn’t.

By sunset, there were flowers across the garden and lights hanging from the old oak trees.

Elena wore a simple ivory dress.

Adrian wore a dark suit.

For the first time, there were no bodyguards standing beside them.

No cameras.

No business deals.

No fake smiles.

Just family.

After the ceremony, Elena noticed Adrian staring at her.

“What?”

“You look beautiful.”

“You’ve said that before.”

“I still mean it.”

She smiled.

A moment later, her father approached.

“I need to tell you something.”

Elena frowned.

“What?”

He handed her an envelope.

“I should have given you this years ago.”

She opened it.

Inside was a letter.

Her father’s handwriting.

But this one was different.

It was dated the week before he disappeared.

She began reading.

The letter said that he had once considered giving Elena to Adrian’s protection permanently.

But he had changed his mind.

Because he realized his daughter needed a normal life.

He had hoped one day she might meet Adrian again under different circumstances.

Then there was one sentence that made Elena stop.

If Adrian chooses power over people, walk away from him.

She looked toward Adrian.

He was speaking to her mother.

He glanced over.

She smiled.

He smiled back.

Her father continued.

“I’ve watched him change from a distance. He was a dangerous young man. But every choice he made after losing me was shaped by the decision not to become his father.”

Elena wiped her eyes.

“You knew?”

“I suspected.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I wanted you to choose him because of who he was, not because I ordered you to.”

She hugged her father.

Later that night, Elena and Adrian stood alone beneath the oak tree.

“The letter was beautiful,” she said.

“What letter?”

She told him.

Adrian looked surprised.

“Your father believed in me?”

“In the man you could become.”

Adrian looked at the lights above them.

“I spent years trying to prove I wasn’t my father.”

“And?”

He looked at her.

“I finally realized I didn’t need to prove anything.”

She smiled.

“You did it anyway.”

“I had a good reason.”

“What?”

“You.”

They kissed.

Then Elena noticed a figure standing at the edge of the garden.

A woman.

She looked familiar.

“Who is that?”

Adrian turned.

The woman disappeared behind the trees.

He immediately became alert.

“Elena, stay here.”

They followed.

There was no one.

Only a folded note on the ground.

Elena opened it.

The handwriting was unfamiliar.

Your mother never told you the whole truth.

Adrian looked at her.

“What does it say?”

She handed him the note.

He read it.

“Damn.”

“Who could still be alive?”

“I don’t know.”

Then Elena noticed something.

There was a symbol drawn beneath the message.

A small black rose.

Adrian recognized it.

“I thought that organization was gone.”

“What organization?”

He looked at her.

“The Black Rose.”

She frowned.

“What’s that?”

“A network even my father feared.”

“Could they be behind this?”

“Possibly.”

She stared at him.

“So this isn’t over.”

“No.”

He took her hand.

“But this time, we face it together.”

She nodded.

Because their fake date had become a marriage.

And the mystery that brought them together was about to become the most dangerous chapter of their lives.
