The Mafia Boss Brought His Secretary as His Fake Date—Then Got Jealous When Every Man Wanted Her

Chapter 6

The storage facility was nearly empty.

Rain hammered against the metal roof as Adrian and Elena walked through a narrow corridor between rows of locked units.

Two armed guards followed them.

Unit 317 stood at the end.

Adrian inserted the key.

The door opened.

Inside was almost nothing.

An old wooden desk.

Three boxes.

A dusty suitcase.

And a framed photograph.

Elena stepped closer.

Her breath caught.

The photograph showed her father standing beside Adrian’s father.

But there was someone else in the picture.

A woman Elena didn’t recognize.

“Who is she?”

Adrian picked up the photograph.

He stared at it for several seconds.

“I don’t know.”

Elena noticed something written on the back.

She took it.

There was a date.

And one sentence.

The truth belongs to the person who survives.

Adrian opened the first box.

Financial records.

Bank transfers.

Names.

Dates.

Companies.

Everything looked ordinary.

Until Elena found a red folder.

Inside was a list of payments made to shell companies.

One name appeared again and again.

Victor Hale.

Adrian’s face went still.

“You know him.”

“Yes.”

“Who is he?”

“Former head of security for my father.”

“Where is he now?”

“Dead.”

Elena frowned.

“Then why is he receiving payments?”

Adrian looked through the documents.

“Because these transactions continued after his death.”

Someone had been using Victor Hale’s identity.

A hidden hand.

The second box contained audio recordings.

Adrian played one.

Elena’s father’s voice filled the room.

“If you’re hearing this, then I was right.”

Elena covered her mouth.

Her father’s voice.

After all these years.

“I discovered that someone in the Blackwell organization is building a private network outside the family. They’re stealing money, weapons, information.”

Static.

Then her father’s voice again.

“But the real danger isn’t the money.”

Adrian leaned closer.

“The person behind this is preparing to take control.”

The recording cut out.

Another began.

“If anything happens to me, Elena must never know.”

She looked at Adrian.

“Why didn’t he want me to know?”

Adrian’s eyes were filled with regret.

“Because he thought knowledge would put you in danger.”

The final recording was only thirty seconds.

Her father sounded frightened.

“Adrian, if you’re hearing this, don’t trust—”

Static.

Then a woman’s voice.

“You’re too late.”

The recording ended.

Everyone in the room froze.

Elena whispered,

“Who was the woman?”

Adrian turned toward the guards.

“Lock the building.”

The lights suddenly went out.

A gunshot exploded in the darkness.

One guard fell.

Elena screamed.

Adrian grabbed her and pulled her behind the desk.

More shots.

Then footsteps.

Someone was moving toward them.

Adrian drew his weapon.

“Stay behind me.”

Elena’s heart pounded.

A figure appeared at the doorway.

Adrian fired.

The figure collapsed.

Silence.

He waited.

Then carefully approached.

The attacker was wearing a black mask.

Adrian removed it.

Elena stared.

She knew the face.

Her blood turned cold.

“That’s impossible.”

Adrian looked at her.

“You know him?”

“Yes.”

Her voice shook.

“He worked at the hotel.”

“Which hotel?”

“The Grand Sterling.”

Adrian’s expression became unreadable.

“The party.”

Elena nodded.

“He was one of the servers.”

Adrian stared at the dead man.

Then at the photograph in Elena’s hand.

Something was beginning to make sense.

The fake date.

The note.

The shooting.

The storage locker.

Someone wasn’t simply trying to kill Adrian.

Someone had been watching Elena for years.

And there was only one question left.

Why?
