The Echoes of Obsidian Ridge
CHAPTER 13:
“My music career was built on your blood money, Marcus!” Julian shouted, his voice echoing off the metal framework of the tower. “It ends tonight!”
Instead of throwing the flash drive to the guard, Julian sprinted toward the tower’s open external maintenance console, plugging the drive directly into the station’s automated override port—a connection he had studied on the bunker’s technical schematics.
“Stop him!” Marcus roared, his calm facade instantly shattering.
The guards raised their carbines, but before they could fire, Julian slammed his palm down on the station’s high-power emergency broadcast relay.
A deafening, hundred-decibel acoustic feedback loop—amplified through the tower’s megawatt transmitters—blasted across the summit plateau. The terrifying, high-frequency sound wave shattered the glass of the parked SUVs and slammed into the guards like a physical force.
The armed operatives dropped their weapons instantly, falling to their knees while clutching their ears in absolute agony as the agonizing sound disoriented their equilibrium. Marcus staggered backward, his umbrella blown away by the gale-force wind as he collapsed against the steel tower framework, screaming in pain.
