The Billionaire Hotel Owner Was Forced to Marry a Crime Boss’s Daughter — Then His Ex Came Back,….
Chapter 4
Maya stayed for two weeks.
Adrian tried to pretend he didn’t care.
Elena found that hilarious.
“You’re terrible at lying,” she told him one morning.
“I’m an excellent liar.”
“You’ve looked at her hotel room floor fourteen times.”
Adrian nearly choked on his coffee.
“I was checking the carpet.”
“Of course.”
Their marriage was becoming stranger every day.
They ate breakfast together.
They argued over meaningless things.
They accidentally started laughing at the same jokes.
And occasionally Adrian caught himself looking at Elena longer than he should.
He didn’t like that.
Maya noticed too.
One evening, she approached Adrian near the rooftop.
“You’re happy.”
He laughed.
“No.”
“You are.”
“I married a woman I barely knew because her father threatened me.”
Maya looked at him.
“That’s not what I mean.”
Adrian went quiet.
Maya lowered her voice.
“Someone has been following me.”
“What?”
“Twice.”
“Why didn’t you tell security?”
“Because I don’t think they’re after me.”
Adrian’s expression changed.
“Then who?”
Maya looked at him.
“You.”
Before Adrian could respond, her phone rang.
She looked at the screen.
Her face went pale.
“What happened?”
Maya whispered:
“Someone just sent me a photograph.”
She showed him.
It was a photograph of Adrian’s father.
Standing beside Victor Moretti.
Taken twenty years ago.
